Who Needs a Financial Advisor
There are many misconceptions about working with a financial advisor. We often hear that a financial advisor is only for the super wealthy or those ready to retire. This couldn’t be further from the truth. There are steps you can take early on in your career to set you up for the future.
The trick is finding the financial advisor who’s right for you. Not all financial advisors are the same.
Many things make our financial lives complex and unique:
Our risk tolerances are different.
We typically rely on multiple income streams in retirement.
Some people have stock options.
Not all retirement plans are the same.
Taxes affect our future in different ways in different areas.
Our goals are different.
Our feelings about money are different.
The earlier you start planning for the future, the better, for many reasons. Scarborough Capital Management can help. Contact us today.

THE DIGEST
It’s the final day for semifinal voting in Mutt Madness!
After five rounds of adorable puppies, we are emotionally spent. If we were a dog toy, we would have no eyes, ears, stuffing, or squeaker left. These dogs are all too cute. It’s impossible to choose. But choose we must! Vote now, and help decide who will wear the rawhide crown of glory as the Cutest Pup in Annapolis. And may the wiggliest butt win!
Chief Awad remains hopeful despite officer shortage 🚓
We’ve got good news and bad news. On one hand, Anne Arundel PD is short on officers — there are 51 vacancies, even though the county budgets for 809, and even though there should be as many as 1,200, according to the Fraternal Order of Police and County Executive Steuart Pittman.
But the good news is that Chief Amal Awad has hope based on increased recruitment with a 70% rise in applicants over the last two recruiting classes, likely thanks to a boost in starting salaries. Plus, there’s a new preparation program to help applicants meet the physical tests required, and onboarding is now 9 months instead of 6. ($)
Severn River Watershed receives state grant
The Severn River is getting some extra attention! After being selected for the Whole Watershed Act, a state initiative aimed at improving water quality around Maryland, the Severn River watershed will receive $2 million in funding to implement conservation and reduce pollution over the next five years. Both the City of Annapolis and the County are matching Whole Watershed’s contribution, bringing a cleaner Bay that much closer to reality.

Baygrass Music Festival lineup
In just three years, the Annapolis Baygrass Music Festival has gained a reputation as one of the best music festivals not just in Annapolis, but on the Eastern Seaboard. Just announced, the lineup features Greensky Bluegrass, Railroad Earth, the Kitchen Dwellers, and many more national and local acts. This year’s festival celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead and their influence on “jamgrass” culture, and many performers have close connections to both the Dead and Phish. Two-day and VIP tickets are on sale now. Sept. 20–21 at Sandy Point State Park.

Navy men's basketball has upset its way to the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament. Fifth-seeded Navy went on the road to knock off No. 4 Boston University last Thursday and top-seeded Bucknell on Sunday. Navy now travels to Washington D.C. to meet No. 2 American at Bender Arena with an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament on the line. Navy men's basketball radio play-by-play announcer Matt Sabados joins the pod to discuss the Midshipmen's impressive postseason run. We are also joined by Navy men's lacrosse insider Eddie McKinnon. Listen.
Editor’s note: Despite Navy’s valiant effort, the Midshipmen couldn’t get it done. American prevailed 74-50.
