Mutt Madness continues, ArtFarm expands again, two hot tickets...

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. A Glen Burnie man who burned President Trump’s name into the road with a flamethrower is going to court on Monday. Did you know Maryland is the only state in the country that entirely bans flamethrowers? Our legal code classifies them as “destructive devices” and possession, manufacture, or use of one could get you 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Mutt Madness continues

  • ArtFarm expands again

  • Two hot tickets

Let’s get to it.

Business Insurance done by real people in our community

Personalized service is almost extinct. Everything’s automated, robots answer phones, and huge conglomerates are buying all the businesses. It is even more important than ever in this changing world to review your business insurance and ensure you have the protections you want and need. Which is why we’re grateful for partners like Yates Insurance Agency.

Yates is a family-owned independent insurance agency that has been serving our Annapolis community for 35 years. The two generational dream team, Rodney Yates Sr. and his son, Rodney Yates Jr. pride themselves on offering a personal insurance partnership that huge corporations just can’t offer. They don’t have an overseas call center, just a team of hardworking Americans right here in Edgewater that answer the phone.

Think it’s time for your insurance to have a more personal touch? Try Yates Insurance Agency. They offer business insurance, private client personal insurance, and group benefits. And since they’re local, you can meet the real people you’ll be working with at 3294 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

THE DIGEST

Mutt Madness: Let’s close out Round 2!

First things first: this link is SFW, but you do need to alert your coworkers before clicking. High chance you’ll say, “Who’s a very good boy?” or “Baby girl needs a treat for that cute face!” out loud once you’re in.

Because you can’t look at these pictures without getting emuttional! How are all of these adorable pooches running around one city? They all deserve Best in Show. However, only one can walk away with top honors. Round 2 ends tonight, so cast your votes now! And tell your coworkers, neighbors, kids, students, and whoever else you see today to vote, too! Like we always say, voting is your civic duty.

$18.4 million for Local Education Fund 💰

We all love finding a forgotten $20 bill in the pocket of those jeans we haven’t worn in a while. That’s probably how Anne Arundel County Public Schools feels right now. The County Council just voted to allocate $18.4 million in unanticipated revenue from federal and state grants to the Local Education Fund. The cash, which must be spent by July, will mostly cover textbooks, classroom supplies, and school maintenance. District 4 rep Julie Hummer said AACPS was prepared to cover these expenses themselves, but now, they can use that money for other things.
