The locally-owned Let’s Go! Music Festival announced its lineup and opened ticket sales. It’s at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds for the fourth year in a row. Dates: May 31–June 2. See the lineup and get tickets.

A nationwide blood shortage is impacting Anne Arundel County. Blood donations are at a 20-year low. Please consider giving if you’re able.

Darim is back on Church Circle with his beautiful flowers and even beautifuller smile! Yes, I made up that word.

No, Middleton Tavern isn’t closing or anything like that. It’s just getting a new roof courtesy of its new owners, Annapolis Capital Partners – owners of 134 Prince and several other boutique hotels opening soon.

Meet AACPS’ newest mascots

We’re introducing the mascots and colors for AACPS’ two newest schools. But since it’s Friday, how about an emoji puzzle?

Severn Run High School = 🐺💙🧡
Two Rivers Elementary School = 🐢💙💚

Got it?

Severn Run HS will be the wolves and proudly sport blue and orange. Two Rivers ES is taking a page out of UMD’s book and going for a terrapin. But instead of red and black, they’ll wear green and blue. Both schools open this August.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Pip’s hoping to reopen soon

Pip’s Dock Street Dogs was among many stores that had to close up shop after January’s historic flooding – the third highest on record. But we just got word that they passed health inspection and will meet with the city electrical inspector soon. Pip’s had hoped to open the first week of February but equipment delays forced them to push. There’s no official re-opening date just yet, but it sounds like it will be soon.

Checking in on Blondie’s Doughnuts 🍩

Here’s a small biz you doughnut want to miss. Blondie’s Doughnut opened its first brick-and-mortar location in October at 8 Mayo Rd in Edgewater. For years, they’d rented commercial kitchen space and sold out of a trailer at farmers markets and other events. Now, you can enjoy these delicious doughnuts almost any time.

The shop operates Tuesday to Sunday from 7 AM–2 PM and they make 20 types of doughnuts (flavors like apple spice, s’more, and lemon meringue), bakery items, as well as breakfast and lunch hot sandwiches. WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

SOUPer Bowl Lunch for Light House 🍜

Whether you’re cheering for the 49ers (right) or the Chiefs (wrong), everyone wins at the annual SOUPer Bowl for the Light House. Before the big game, volunteers will serve a menu of three soups — chicken noodle, baked potato, and chili — and donations support the Light House Homeless Prevention Center.

This fundraiser’s now in its 18th year but donations are especially important now after a recent fire displaced residents. Volunteers and organizers hope to raise $8,500. Be sure to wear your favorite jersey to get into the spirit.

The lunch is this Sunday (2/11) from 11:30 AM–1:30 PM at Heritage Baptist Church — 1740 Forest Drive, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.

Sarah Lacey enters school board race

There’s another name up for a seat on the Board of Education. Sarah Lacey of Jessup has announced her candidacy to represent District 1, the county’s northernmost district. If Lacey’s name sounds familiar, it might be because she previously served on the County Council from 2018 to 2022. She joins Ciera Harlee and Hunter Ross, the other two candidates challenging for the seat. The incumbent Gloria Dent filed for reelection on Tuesday. ($)
