SP Girls & Broadneck Boys make waves at County Swimming Championships

Swimming upstream is rarely a good thing . . . but for the Severna Park Girls and Broadneck Boys, it was onward and upward. Both undefeated swim teams recently won the County championships! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Sophomore KK Sullivan’s narrow 100-yard butterfly win helped propel the Falcons to their first championship since 2014. Amber Gong broke a 16-year-old program record in the 200 IM. And the Broadneck boys, led by seniors Owen Mahoney and Marcus Cembrano, secured a four-peat and seventh overall title. Congrats, champs! ($)

Dylan Behler gets nod for 30A seat 🏛️

The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee selected Dylan Behler to fill the Maryland District 30A delegate seat after Shaneka Henson’s promotion to the Maryland Senate. FYI: District 30A covers Annapolis.

Behler, a lifelong county resident, won with 10 votes but Governor Moore must approve the selection. He’s currently the Director of Legislative and Constituent Services at DNR. In his new role, he hopes to further Chesapeake Bay restoration, infrastructure resilience, and cost-of-living reductions. He previously served as Chief of Staff for U.S. Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth when she was a state senator. Her congressional win set off the chain leading to Behler’s selection 👇️ 

Elfreth won one of Maryland’s House of Representative seats in Congress last year. Henson successfully applied to replace her. And now Behler is replacing Henson.

Agave in West Annapolis closed 🌮 🍹

While it’s hard to taco ‘bout it, we have to share — Agave in West Annapolis has officially closed. Scoop found out Saturday that the Mexican restaurant’s last day was Sunday after only two years in Annapolis. But don’t pour one margarita out for Agave just yet. They’ve got expansion plans in their home state of Delaware. You can still get your fix at the Rehoboth Beach, Lewes Beach, and future Delaware locations. Vacation cheers to that! 🏖️

Agave’s former spot in charming West Annapolis may now be some of Annapolis’ finest available real estate.
