USNA’s Bancroft Hall renovation 🏢
Did you know USNA’s Bancroft Hall is the largest dorm in the world? 🤯 It’s got 33 acres of floor space and 4.8 miles of corridors. But like any building over 100 years old, it needs renovations from time to time. This Friday, the Naval Academy will break ground to mark the start of renovations on the hall’s rotunda, outdoor main entrance, and other important parts of the building. Later that morning, USNA will have a ribbon cutting for the next phase of the Farragut Sea Wall reconstruction, part of the Navy’s plan for combating sea level rise and coastal flooding.

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’
Theater Tuesday 🎭
CTM presents The Miser
Classic theater feels a lot more approachable (and delicious) when it’s performed in the outdoor courtyard at Reynolds Tavern, as Classic Theatre of Maryland does every summer. Tonight is your last chance to see The Miser, Moliere’s comedy about a nasty miser and his household trying to get one over on him. Performance starts at 7:30 PM.
Art in the Park 🎨 🎶🍝🍦
Art in The Park returns for its fourth year on September 29 from 1–5 PM. Cafe Mezzanotte (760 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park, MD) will host dozens of local art galleries and artists. The Grilled Lincolns featuring Andy Hall and The Betas will perform live music. This year, each ticket includes unlimited access to Cafe Mezzanotte’s Picnic Pavilion. What’s on the menu? For starters, Annapolis Ice Cream, pastas, smoked foods, meat, seafood, veggies, beer, and wine. Snatch up tickets!
Mark your calendar: Stef Ripple “Do Your Best” 5K
The Stef Ripple organization invites you to lace up your running shoes and join in for the “Do Your Best” 5K on September 15 at 8 AM at Anne Arundel Community College. In addition to the 5K, the race will have a kids fun run and a one-mile walk. This annual event (now in its 8th year) is the biggest fundraiser for Stef Ripple, an organization which supports ovarian cancer patients and their families.
Stef Ripple is named after Stefanie Ashdown, a Severna Park native, wife, and mother of three who passed away in May 2017 after a brave two and a half year battle with cancer. The “ripple” refers to her ability to light up the room with her smile and energy.
