AACPS meal prices, First Sunday Arts Festival, two heritage festivals...

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. This morning’s intro is very simple. I just want to say I’m glad you’re here 😁

Let’s get to it.

— Lauren Burke Meyer, Dylan Roche, & Ryan Sneddon

The birth of a tradition 🦀

Last weekend, The Choptank held its first-ever Crab Feast. It was completely sold out and people loved it! But who wouldn’t love two hours of all-you-can-eat crabs and all the accouterments? We already can’t wait for next year!

Did you even know The Choptank serves hard shell crabs? Many people don’t. But we think it’s the best place in downtown Annapolis to get them. Fresh crabs right on Ego Alley? Come on. . . it doesn’t get any better than that.

And don’t just take my word for it – The Choptank has over 500 five-star reviews!

Crab season officially opened April 1st. So call your friends and enjoy Maryland’s signature food at what some have called the finest waterfront restaurant in the entire state. Make your reservation today.

It’s playoff season, baby. Navy women’s lax crushed the Holy Cross Crusaders 19–5 in the semifinals last night. They hope to capture a 7th Patriot League title Saturday in Baltimore at 2:30 PM. Don’t want to drive? Catch it on CBS.

The men have a semifinal matchup tonight at 7 PM against #2 seed Lehigh in West Point. If they win, their championship is Sunday. Both games will be broadcast on CBS.

AACPS meal prices won’t change next year 🍕

Tyler Womack named Youth of the Year

Call him an athlete, a student, a mentor — heck, call him Youth of the Year! Tyler Womack, a two-sport junior at Annapolis High, received this distinction from our local Boys and Girls Club on Tuesday. For this, he gets a $2,000 scholarship and the chance to compete for the same award at state, regional, and national levels. ($)

LOCAL BUSINESS

Severna Park Farmers Market is now open 🍉🌽🧇🥖

Does shopping at farmers’ markets make you feel like your favorite lifestyle influencer? If yes, good news: the Severna Park Farmers Market is now open for the season. It’s located at the Park & Ride on Ritchie Highway and Jones Station Road. And it’s open rain or shine, Saturdays from 8 AM to noon through October.

What do MBAs and local shoppers have in common?

They both have a go-to-market strategy. Sorry, that was truly terrible. Anyhow. . . conventional shopping is boring. But you never know what you’ll find at a local market. Lucky for you, there are two this weekend:

  • Severna Park Shop Local Festival. A big day of selling and entertainment on Saturday from 11 AM–3 PM in Park Plaza — 500 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, MD 21146.

  • Quaker Spring Market. It’s like a flea market, only better! Browse books, housewares, clothing, and more on Saturday from 9 AM–2 PM at 351 Dubois Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

The first line of defense against mosquitoes

Spring is here. Amazing! But also, that means mosquito season is coming up. . . Did you know excellent lawn care is one of the very best ways to prevent these pesky pests? They love living in your grass.

Lawn Doctor Annapolis’ Yard Armour program is a mosquito’s worst nightmare. Their technicians know all the secret hiding spots and have an arsenal of products and equipment to protect you from the bloodsuckers. And they’re so confident that your satisfaction is guaranteed.

Lawn Doctor also offers fertilization & weed control, aeration, tick control, and perimeter pest control. Also 100% guaranteed. Get your free lawn evaluation today and enjoy outside to the fullest this season.

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Fairy House Festival 🧚

This year’s Fairy House Festival kicks off at 2 PM this Saturday (5/4) at Quiet Waters Park’s Holly Pavilion. The magic continues all of May with Fairy Houses throughout Quiet Waters Park. Grab some tutus and wands because fairy costumes are encouraged. This is free but entering Quiet Waters Park is $6.

¿Ceiliúradh or celebrar? Or both. . . .

Recognize those words? It’s “celebrate” in Irish and Spanish, respectively. They’ll be handy for the two heritage festivals this weekend:

🇮🇪 Annapolis Irish Festival (Saturday)
From 11 AM to 9 PM, enjoy live music and dancing on three stages, 20 Irish-themed vendors, food, family activities, a whiskey tent, and much more. Full details.

🇲🇽 Maryland Fiesta Latina (Sunday)
From 11 AM to 7 PM, enjoy music, cultural demonstrations, ethnic food, local artisans, and many family-friendly activities. Full details.

📍Both events are at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds – 1450 Generals Highway, Crownsville, MD 21032.

The First First Sunday Arts Festival of 2024

Annapolis’ premier arts festival is back this weekend! As its name suggests, First Sunday Arts Festival happens on the first Sunday of the month, May through November. Stop by West Street between Calvert Street and Church Circle from 11 AM–5 PM for over 100 vendors, live entertainment, and café dining.

Nothing in this section is sponsored. They're just the things you need to know. I'll always let you know when something's sponsored.
