Bay Bridge airport plane crash (everyone's OK), Severna Park farmers market, pre-k registration is open...

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. A runaway kangaroo named Sheila shut down a highway in Alabama this week. Frankly, feels like Easport energy. Independent, unpredictable, and kind of iconic 🦘

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Bay Bridge airport plane crash (everyone's OK)

  • Severna Park farmers market

  • Pre-K registration is open

Let’s get to it.

Introducing Scoop’s newest partner: RAM Construction

Have you ever walked into a home that just feels “right?” There’s harmony in the light, materials, and the way every space has a clear purpose. That kind of beauty is never accidental. It’s the result of intention, care, and vision right down to the final detail.

For over 20 years, RAM Construction has quietly built and renovated some of the finest homes on Annapolis’ waterfront. Homes that just feel “right.”

From elegant renovations and new builds to new outdoor spaces and exterior updates, every project is tailored – not just to the property, but to the people who call it home.

Because RAM Construction doesn’t just build homes. They build value through quality craftsmanship.

Plane crash near the Bay Bridge 🛩️

Did you know there’s an airport right next to the Bay Bridge. It only has one runway and it made the news yesterday when a Cirrus SR22 (a single engine four-seater popular with recreational pilots) crashed into a marshy area around 10:30 AM. Don’t worry, the pilot wasn’t injured, and nobody else was onboard. Can’t say the same for the plane. We expect the NTSB’s report within 30 days. ($)

Prekindergarten registration is open … but different

In news that will make so many of us say, “They were just in diapers!”, pre-k registration opens at 5 PM on Tuesday, May 6. But there’s a big change: students, bright as they may be, must be four years old by September 1, 2025. Families with three-year old students are encouraged to use private providers. The changes reflect the school district’s efforts to redirect resources into older pre-k classrooms. To register youngsters, collect their birth certificate, immunization records, two proofs of residency, and set an alarm.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Sea Table takes waterfront dining to the next level

Annapolis just got a new waterfront restaurant. Kinda. . . After three seasons in DC, Sea Table is expanding to Annapolis. Owner/Sommelier Troy Knapp (executive chef at Blue Duck Tavern when it earned a Michelin star) has procured a Prestige 520 yacht to host the most exclusive dining experience in Annapolis. 4–6 guests will enjoy 4 hours on board and one of two culinary adventures – a communal local seafood feast or a decadent five-course tasting menu.

💸 How much will this experience run you? $2,900–5,500 depending on when you cruise, how many friends you bring, and what you choose to eat. Plus alcohol, which is available à la carte.

New owner of Bagels And… 🥯

She’s on a roll! After 30+ years slinging schmear, Cynthia Machuca is now the proud owner of Bagels And… Hired at 21, she found the hours helpful while raising her then-18-month-old son. Her family stayed in the bagel biz, with that son later working at the Annapolis deli. Cynthia’s done it all and is ready to take the reins from the retiring David Finkelstein and Applestein family.

Located on West Street, the hotspot serves a wide variety of bagels and sandwiches. In Lauren’s opinion — it’s the closest Annapolis has to an NYC-style bagel. Cynthia plans to add a few new twists while honoring the past. We’ll stay tuned. ($)
