The history of hats on Main Street

Did you know there’s been a hat shop on Main Street for over 100 years? Lillian Powell Musterman opened L.P. Musterman Hat Shop at 197 Main Street in 1921. Her granddaughter, Elizabeth Leah Reed, wrote a book about the milliner in 2021. Nowadays, people are eating delicious sushi at 197 Main instead of buying hats courtesy of Joss. But there’s still a hat shop. Hats on the Belfry has called Main Street home since 1978 and is currently owned by husband and wife team Gina and Skip Briggs. They bought the shop in 2004. ($)

Party Boat update

Both Naptown Tiki Club and Annapolis Party Boat started cruising out of Back Creek this weekend. Naptown Tiki Club was supposed to call the dock at The Choptank home. However, negotiations fell through so both companies are berthing at the Marina at Nautilus Point home for now. Later in April, Annapolis Party Boat will operate from City Dock. For a more historic Annapolis experience, Annapolis Maritime Museum’s skipjack Wilma Lee will also operate from City Dock for the first time ever. ($)

Navy clinches Star Series

With track & field sweeping Army this weekend, Navy clinched victory in yet another Star Series. The Star Series is the collection of all the games Navy plays against Army in a season. Win the most games, win the series. Very simple.

Navy moved to 13-7 for this season with two victories this weekend, making it impossible for Army to get an advantage this season. And while we don’t always win the big one (looking at you, last December), Navy has won an astounding 39 times in the series' 45-year history.
