The perfect post-run pit stop
I’m sure you’ve heard by now. This Saturday is the second-ever Annapolis Running Festival! Thousands of runners will be running a 5K, 10K, or even a half-marathon through downtown Annapolis. Are you?
If so, the perfect place to recover after Saturday’s challenging run is The Choptank. It opens at 11 am, so runners can stop by for a post-run meal or celebratory drink right after their impressive finish!
The Choptank will be serving Maryland’s famous cuisine — delicious as always. With that, enjoy a cocktail, one of 20 draft beers, or a refreshing, ice-cold Coke. You’ve earned it, runners. Visit The Choptank at 110 Compromise Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Rick Hutzell dives into Annapolis oyster culture
Some things are just part of Annapolis culture — like Sperrys and sailboats. Or y’know, oysters and oyster shooters. To help you find Annapolis’ best, longtime Annapolitan Rick Hutzell put together a comprehensive guide. It covers not only where to get the best oysters but also how they got so popular. So, if you’ve ever wondered why we shoot oysters and cocktail sauce then chase that with a beer — Rick’s got your answer. ($)
USNA sea wall check in
Sea level rise is no joke. And the Naval Academy’s sea wall looks like it should be fully repaired by the end of 2024. This project, one of many protecting Annapolis from flooding and climate change, started in fall 2022. It’s currently about 80% complete.
✅ Good to know: Sea levels in Annapolis have risen more than 1 foot over the past century. In January we saw the third-worst flooding in Annapolis history. Water was 5 feet higher than normal! ($)
