🍦Citrus Circus

Anchors Aweigh 🤝 WNAV, sock burning, Sproutlet...

Good morning, Annapolis. If you’re going to the Ravens game this weekend, just know that I’m extremely jealous of you. Not because you’re going to the game, but because my team lost in the first week of the playoffs 😢

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Anchors Aweigh 🤝 WNAV

  • Sock Burning save the date

  • Sproutlet at the State House

Let’s dive in.

You know Nitro Circus. Now meet Citrus Circus

Travis Pastrana drinking a Citrus Circus at Castlebay Irish Pub on Main Street | photo: Streetbike Tommy

Travis Pastrana’s name has been on lots of stuff. Rally cars, dirt bikes, Sharpied onto the bodies of adoring fans. To be honest, a cocktail can is probably the most normal place it’s ever been.

Like any good Marylander, Travis’ favorite cocktail is the orange crush – invented in Ocean City back in 1995. And thanks to a chance meeting with Good Boy Vodka CEO Alex Pratt after a boat race through 10-foot waves on Lake Michigan, Travis now has his own version of Maryland’s most famous cocktail.

Citrus Circus is a ready-to-drink canned cocktail with all-natural orange juice, natural lemon lime flavor, soda, and of course, Good Boy Craft Vodka. Tie that together with some fruit juice and stevia for sweetness and boom. Citrus Circus.

Sounds perfect for long days on the boat, in between jumps at Pastranaland (kidding, no drinking and riding), or just visiting your favorite downtown Annapolis bar.

You’ll start to see Citrus Circus on liquor store shelves and local bar menus soon. And who knows, you may even crush one next to Travis. He may be an international superstar, but he’s still just a down-to-earth Annapolis kid at heart.

P.S. If you’re involved with a bar or restaurant anywhere in Annapolis, hit up Streetbike Tommy at Good Boy Vodka to get Citrus Circus on your menu ([email protected])

LOCAL BUSINESS

Sprout takes over State House canteen

I’m convinced there can never be enough healthy grab-and-go options downtown. So we’re excited to announce that Sprout has taken over the canteen in the Maryland State House. You may recognize their avocado logo from the other store by Trader Joe’s. Well, now they’re downtown, too. Sprout’s canteen (lovingly referred to as Sproutlet) is open to the public. Just bring your ID, walk downstairs, and head right until you see the canteen sign. The current hours are below but be aware they may change as Sprout assesses demand.

  • Monday: 11 AM–7 PM

  • Tuesday–Thursday: 8 AM–4 PM

  • Friday: 8 AM–3 PM

Local by Design’s Annapolis Artisans Market

What’s the greatest four-letter word that starts with S? SALE, obviously. Which is convenient because Local by Design’s famous markets kick off this weekend. Stop by 1818 Margaret Avenue or 1805 C&D Virginia Avenue right next to each other Friday (1/26) from 10 AM–7 PM or Saturday (1/27) and Sunday (1/28) from 10 AM–5 PM. Check out LBD’s Instagram to see who will be selling unique jewelry, furniture, art, and more that make the perfect gifts or conversation starters in your home.

I know it’s winter but. . .

The folks over at the Annapolis Maritime Museum (and boaters everywhere) are eagerly awaiting the return of spring. And in Annapolis, we celebrate that by burning our socks. Don’t ask why. Just go with it. We’ve done it since the 70s. The biggest public sock burning is at the Annapolis Maritime Museum on March 23. Tickets go on sale today and they sell out faster than Barbie’s Dreamhouse after Margot Robbie made that cool again so check AMM’s website early and often.

Governor Wes Moore burns his socks at his first sock burning as MD’s governor
