🍦 Congrats USNA Class of 2024!

More access to Greenbury Point, E-bikes are coming, Pride documentary premiere

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. We're making up a word today. Heartswell. It's the pride and joy we get when watching something awesome. Like watching 1,040 Midshipmen graduate. Or a patriotic parade. Or, ahem, the Blue Angels. We hope you have a heartswell moment or two this weekend. Have a memorable Memorial Day weekend.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • More public access to Greenbury Point

  • E-bikes are coming your way

  • Annapolis Pride Documentary Premiere

Let’s get to it.

Annapolis’ only Brazilian Steakhouse

I don't know about you but I love novel experiences when dining out. I whip up a mean pesto pasta, but I've never rotisserie-roasted mouthwatering meats and sliced them tableside with a mini machete. Rodizio Grill does it every single day.

Brazilian-born Ivan Utrera the first Rodizio Grill in Littleton, Colorado back in 1995. It was the first Brazilian Steakhouse in America and it's been famous for its all-you-can-eat slow roasted meats ever since.

On Memorial Day, you can get two Full Rodizio meals for $69.99 (usually $94) and 50% off dessert. And from May 30–June 7, 2024 graduates eat free with the purchase of one adult Full Rodizio. Just bring your student ID and graduation program.

Rodizio Grill is located at Westfield Annapolis – also home to Apple, Lululemon, AMC Theatres, Container Store, and over 100 other stores and restaurants.

More Public Access to Greenbury Point 🌿

Has anyone told you, “Take a hike!” lately? Now you can reply, “Gladly!” and head over to Greenbury Point. Starting Friday, Naval Support Activity (NSA) is opening the East and West Access Roads to the nature conservation area Greenbury Point so it’s available to the public more frequently. Access roads will be open Sundays, Mondays, Fridays, and alternating Saturdays. This makes it easier for hikers, walkers, runners, and nature lovers to enjoy the walking trails at Greenbury Point all summer and beyond.

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Memorial Day Weekend

  • This weekend is about more than barbecues and pool parties. Take some time this weekend to honor the sacrifices of the armed forces. One idea – attend the Annapolis Memorial Day Parade on Monday at 10 AM.

  • We’ve got the Bay Bridge in our backyard, which means beach traffic. MDOT reminds us to plan accordingly 🚘️

  • It’s getting hot out and pools are opening up, like the Dunn Municipal Pool, which opens on Saturday (5/25)! Take a dip to beat the heat 🏊️

  • Feeling tough? Do the Murph workout on Monday. It’s a mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 air squats, then another mile run. All while wearing a 20-pound weight vest. The Scoop team always Murphs at Maxed Out Fitness. National anthem at 9 AM. Then we run.

Annapolis Pride Documentary Premiere 🎥 🏳️‍🌈 🍿

If you’re like the Scoop team, we’re in our documentary era. The latest one on our must-see list premieres Wednesday (5/29) – Annapolis: In My Lifetime. It highlights the struggles and achievements of the Annapolis LGBTQ community leading up to our capital's first Pride parade in 2019. Catch one of two screenings (7 PM or 9 PM) at the Landmark Theater at Annapolis Harbour Center. Join the Q&A afterwards! Get tickets.

Looking ahead: Let’s Go Music Festival is next week 🎸

The countdown is on for the can’t-miss music event of the summer: the Let’s Go Music Festival. It’s only one week away now: May 31–June 2 at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, and the fest’s local organizers have brought together a pretty sweet lineup of big names: Taking Back Sunday, Dashboard Confessional, The Revivalists, The Band Camino, Bush, Daughtry, and lots more. The vision is to bring a curated list of renowned musicians, emerging artists, and local bands so Annapolitans can have an epic weekend of rocking out in our own backyard. Don’t forget to use the code SCOOP for 10% off GA and GA+ tickets.
