THE DIGEST
SOUPer Bowl surpasses goal
Remember how the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in overtime? That’s kind of how it was for the SOUPer Bowl. The annual fundraiser lunch brought in $8,000 – just shy of the $8.5k goal. But donations kept coming online. So, Heritage Baptist Church presented a $10,000 check to the Light House Homeless Prevention Center! Huge thanks to all our readers who donated; you helped raise the most money in this fundraiser’s 18-year history!

LOCAL BUSINESS
Welcome back, SOB 🦪
Tomorrow is a very big day. A year and a half ago, Sailor Oyster Bar closed after a devastating fire. And while it was terrible, in typical SOB fashion (the original restaurant wasn’t big enough for a kitchen so they used a blowtorch and lots of raw fish), they turned a problem into an opportunity. The newly rebuilt Sailor Oyster Bar is beautiful. It’s familiar and new at the same time. It’s much bigger. And much of the former staff is back.
Sailor Oyster Bar opens to the public for the first time since June 2022 tomorrow at 4 PM. Stop by at 196 West Street, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Reminder: Restaurant Week runs all week long
Last weekend was just the start. Annapolis Restaurant Week goes through Sunday. Dozens of restaurants have special menus, prix fixe options, and even some new dishes. Here’s the full list.

When Should My Child See The Orthodontist? 😁
Did you know age 7 is the right time for a first orthodontic evaluation according to the American Association of Orthodontics? And contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a dentist’s referral to schedule a First Look.
A First Look is about so much more than straight teeth. Dr. Julie Langguth at Annapolis Orthodontics offers a complimentary consultation for kids to evaluate their teeth, jaws and even their sleeping and breathing (which can often be correlated to the jaws.)
And here’s a secret. Very few 7-year-olds need braces. But a First Look can rule out a handful of orthodontic problems that are much more complicated to treat later.

South River sweeps county basketball titles
It’s South River High School’s county and we’re just living in it. At least if we’re talking high school basketball. Both Seahawks teams, boys and girls, won their respective Anne Arundel County Titles over the weekend. The boys destroyed Severna Park 65–40 to win their first-ever title. And the girls outlasted Broadneck through double overtime (51–50) to win their first title since 2014. ($)
