THE DIGEST
Parent-Plebe weekend
Today (8/10) through Sunday (8/13) is Parent-Plebe Weekend. Parents and guardians of the class of 2027 last waved goodbye to their kids on June 29 when they marched inside Bancroft Hall on Induction Day. Now, they have the weekend to watch them emerge as young adults ā with new haircuts, new clothes, and (lots of) new discipline.
Iām a parent ā Find the full schedule here.
Iām a Mid ā Hereās Scoopās official ranked database of crabcake reviews because you know Mom and Dad are paying š
Iām not a Mid or a parent ā The action happens on the Yard but you might notice more vehicle and foot traffic downtown. And definitely call your favorite restaurants to see if thereās a long wait.
šāļø 18 days until the school bell rings
Thatās right, schoolās back on August 28 and 84,000 students are expected to start in AACPS classrooms. Big emotions happen this time of year. (We see you, teachers, parents, and students!) Luckily you can head to a back-to-school event to feel more prepared. See the full list of dates and times here.

Root, root, root for the Scoop team š
The inaugural Blue Crab Classic Pickleball Tournament kicks off tonight (8/10) at Ball at the Mall. First up, the corporate challenge. Watch as employees trade corporate jargon for pickleball lingo (āLetās circle back and synergize on that laterā) and face off against other professionals. The challenge is full but Team Scoop would love your cheers!
The tournament (a Chamber of Commerce x Peake Social partnership) continues with menās and womenās singles on Friday, menās and womenās doubles on Saturday, and mixed doubles on Sunday. Itās not too late to register.

Back to School Blues? Not Here! š
Hey there, parents! The school bell's about to ring and we know that sinking feeling ā the kids aren't exactly jumping for joy (although maybe you are!).
