Annapolis Hopeā€™s big week at Wrabyn šŸ›ļø

One of our favorite local boutiques and West Annapolis gems is showing their support for Annapolis Hope. Wrabynā€™s weeklong fundraiser from June 24ā€“29 will benefit Annapolis Hopeā€™s mission to save the late Nick Mirelesā€™ wife and 8 kids from eviction. 10% of sales will go to Annapolis Hope all week long.

The upscale boutique has every wardrobe staple a girl needs: dresses, blazers, shoes, handbags, jewelry, and more. Wrabyn even offers styling services!

While youā€™re shopping, enter the drawing for a chance to win big. We have six prizes. Tickets for the prize pool (5 prizes) are $25 each or 3 for $60 or 5 for $100 - and you can buy as many as you want! Tickets for the Really Big Prize are $50 and weā€™re only selling 100 tickets. Winners from the prize pool will be drawn each day of the week.

THE DIGEST

A community remembers

Today marks one year since the shooting that claimed the lives of Mario Mireles-Ruiz, Christian Segovia, and Nick Mireles during a party at Marioā€™s home on June 11, 2023. At 5 PM tonight, friends and family of the slain will meet at Lawyers Mall at the State House and walk down to City Dock for a Memorial Vigil. Tomorrow, weā€™re making a huge announcement for Annapolis Hope, the community fundraiser supporting the family of Nick Mireles.

AMFM Awards Music Scholarship šŸŽ»

This news is music to our ears. Annapolis Musicians Fund for Musicians (AMFM) awarded its annual Tim King Music Performance Scholarship of $5,000 to Rockbridge Academy senior Rachel Lee. Her primary instrument is the violin, but sheā€™s also a skilled pianist, guitarist, and percussionist. Rachelā€™s headed to University of MD College Park to study music this fall.

Fashion for a Cause struts its stuff

Congratulations to Hospice of the Chesapeake for a successful fundraiser at the stunning Fluegel Navy Alumni Center last weekend. The event raised $242,000 for Chesapeake Kids, a program providing compassionate, comprehensive, and holistic care to children living with life-limiting conditions and their families. Didnā€™t make the (sold out) event? Itā€™s never too late to help.

2024 Hurricane Season šŸŒ€

DYK, hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30? And NOAAā€™s predicting above-normal activity this season. The official outlook anticipates up to 25 total named storms (winds of 39 MPH or ā¬†) of which 8-13 may become hurricanes (winds of 74 MPH or ā¬†ļø). Get prepared now with these tips from the City of Annapolis Office of Emergency Management:

  • Complete a Family Communication Plan: Anticipate how to assemble everyone (including pets!) and decide where to shelter.

  • Make a Preparedness Kit: Your emergency kit should include water, non-perishable food, medications, first aid, important documents, personal hygiene items, and pet food with supplies for 3 days.

  • Stay Informed using these tools:

    • Alert Annapolis: The city sends automated phone messages, text messages, or emails in the event of an emergency. Sign up or text ā€œANNAPOLISā€ to 38276.

    • Prepare Me Annapolis Mobile App: Provides real-time alerts for Annapolitans to be prepared for emergencies. Find it at the Apple Store or on Google Play.
