Good morning, Annapolis. This is Naptown Scoop, where we give you all the info you need to enjoy some of Annapolisā favorite events, like, oh I donāt know, the Annapolis Powerboat Show happening all this weekend! š¤©

Boat Show Fun Facts
The Scoop team was so excited for our office field trip to ā you guessed it ā the Annapolis Powerboat Show, which opened yesterday. You know we had our notepads out (er, well Notes app) and cameras ready (actually, phones again) to report back to you with some cool finds and footage from the Powerboat Show. Here are some fun facts we learned on Day 1:
Did you know the Boat Show crew launches over 1 mile of floating docks for the event? š
Attending with kids? Be sure to stop off at the BoatU.S. tent to borrow a life jacket to help them learn boating safety (and to make walking the docks less stressful for mom and dad.) š§
Did you know the snakehead is being rebranded as āChesapeake Channaā? Why are we talking about this in context of the Boat Show? Because DNR will be onsite with information and insights on catching snakehead and there will be a free cooking demo from the chefs of Boatyard Bar and Grill. Check the Show Guide for details. š£
Scoop writer Lauren already told us about all the cool things available to buy at the boat show. Well we overheard a great idea: a lot of these items make great holiday gifts for the Annapolitans (or out-of-towners) in your life. Weāre not saying who bought what, but somebody in the Scoop familyās family is getting a cute Boat Show tee for the holidays. š
Last one: Donāt forget your reusable water bottle when you go to the show. We saw Annapolis Greenās nifty Naptown Taps along the docks providing free water refills for attendees. The Boat Show continues to find new ways to make the event more sustainable, and this is one of them! Less plastic waste = better for the water = better for boaters šļø

Where Boat Show Energy meets Fantastic & Fresh Seafood
Heading to the Annapolis Powerboat Show this weekend? Same here. And when I get hungry, Iāll be heading to the Choptank for three reasons:
An absolutely epic view of the Boat Show
Delicious seafood (or maybe just my go-to black angus burger)
The tastiest crushes in town (my favoriteās grapefruit)
The location also couldnāt be more convenient. Itās so close to the Show that youāre still right in the action. So whether youāre buying a boat or just there to browse (no judgment), head to the Choptank when itās time to refuel.
The Choptank is located at 110 Compromise Street in beautiful, downtown Annapolis.

There was one event we wrote about this week that caught your attention way more than any other: the Annapolis Boat Shows. And really, are we even surprised? This is a big tradition in Annapolis, and weāve been counting down the days for the past few weeks. Now itās finally here!
š„ Scoop publisher Ryan recapped his perfect day at the Annapolis Powerboat Show on Monday, and gave tips on Instagram for finding the best parking. And ICYMI, we had a look behind the scenes on Insta as well!
š The other buzzy topic this week? Whoās running for the Anne Arundel County School Board. We shared The Baltimore Bannerās run-down of who the candidates are, what they stand for, and what their priorities will be.
No phones for St. Anneās students š±š«
St. Anneās School of Annapolis has become one of the first schools in the country to implement a hard rule against phones for students in school. This decision comes after Head of School Connie Coker looked at the mounting evidence of how devices like phones affect not only student learning but also student behavior. Already, the National Association of Independent Schools has praised the move and invited St. Anneās to present at the associationās annual meeting later this year.

Where were we Wednesday? šø
ANSWER:
Welp, I guess there arenāt many rusty suits of armor holding flower sprays here in Annapolis. So this was bit of a IYKYK situation. And lots of you did!
We donāt know if this fella has a name, but he stands guard outside Brown Mustache Coffee at Old Fox Books on Maryland Ave. (We accepted either answer, for the record.)
Thanks for playing and congrats to @frontdoorsofannapolis, @tjw1231, and @dogsofannapolis for being the first 3 to answer correctly. š
