Good morning, Annapolis. This is Naptown Scoop, where we hope you get a smile, or at least a smirk, or at least one of those moments where you breathe a little tiny bit of air out of your nose because it’s funny but not that funny with every read. 😏

Get Salty about Fundraising with Kate Myers
She’s a marathon runner, a bestselling novelist, a mom, AND one of our Annapolitan neighbors. We recently caught up with Kate Myers about her upcoming book, Salty, and her efforts to raise $5K for the charity Bras for Girls ahead of the New York City Marathon in November. (Spoiler alert: If you donate to her fundraising campaign, you could end up as a character in her book!)
Check out our article about what Kate has been up to and how you can help with a donation (and see the three reward tiers) in the Scoop Journal.

There’s a New Podcast in Town Tackling Important Issues on Education and Student Learning!
St. Anne’s School just launched its new podcast series, The Satellite, and the first episode explores a hot button topic: smartphones in school. Ahead of this school year, St. Anne’s School launched an updated Personal Device Policy—one of the first in the country that takes a hard stance on banning phones in school. This first episode of The Satellite explores the data, research, and conversations that informed the policy decision, including reflections on New York Times Best Seller The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt which made a huge splash in both the world of child psychology and in the world of Education. Tune in on Spotify or Apple Podcasts to hear how this new policy has already positively impacted student learning and student social behaviors, and how St. Anne’s School plans to track this year’s data to help inform other educators across the nation as they grapple with this topic within their own communities.
