Dear Ryan, it’s not me. It’s you. Goodbye forever.
Let’s get to it.

P.S. Happy birthday to Bill Hague!
Final boarding call for Spring-ready Scoop gear

32 years before there even was a Naval Academy, Captain James Lawrence used his dying breath to utter what became the most famous words in Annapolis: Don’t Give Up the Ship. 208 years later in my shower (where all good ideas happen), I realized scoop sounds a lot like ship. Don’t Give Up the Scoop is our Frank’s Red Hot now; we put that 💩 on everything.
Drop by HERE. a pop-up shop this weekend to shop the Scoop collection.
ℹ️ HERE is open 10 AM–6 PM every day this weekend. Sunday is Give Back Day supporting Community Betterment featuring live music, raffles, permanent jewelry, a calligraphy course, and more.

Annapolis resident and WW2 veteran turns 100
Happy birthday and thanks for your service to George Tita! Living 23 years (and counting) past average life expectancy notwithstanding, George probably shouldn’t have been able to eat a steak dinner this week. He was supposed to be in the first wave at Normandy; the orders got mixed up. Countless artillery shells threatened him during recon missions; they only grazed him or his armor. If you’re reading this, George, Annapolis is lucky to have you. ($)
PSA: Bay Bridge closing Saturday afternoon
Remember when Baltimore got enormous new cranes and MDTA closed the Bay Bridge to prevent distracted driving? The old cranes are leaving this weekend so it’s happening again. The MDTA expects to hold traffic for 15–30 minutes around 1:30 PM Saturday. Follow on Twitter or call 1-877-BAYSPAN for live updates.

AMFM college scholarship
As discussed Wednesday, free money to pay for college is always good. Well, free money of any kind is good. But I digress. AMFM has $5,000 for its 2023 Tim King Scholarship. Applicants must . . .
🎸 Be an Anne Arundel County resident graduating high school this spring.
🎸 Be an active member of chorus, band, or other school-sponsored performance group.
🎸 Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (C’s get degrees but they don’t win scholarships to pay for them)
🎸 Intend to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in music performance this fall

Food Truck Friday rolls back to town
Signs of winter’s impending demise are everywhere. Gym bros will be wearing tiny sliced up tank tops soon. On a more positive note, Food Truck Friday returns tonight. What’s that? Every Friday from Spring to Fall, about a dozen food trucks convene at the Farmers Market pavilion from 4–8 PM. You don’t have to cook. You don’t have to clean. You get fresh air. What’s not to like? Here are tonight’s menus. Put me down for a Crabby Cone.
Ever seen an umbrella withstand 85 mph winds?
This one can. I know because I went to see Annapolis Town Center’s newest furniture store and ended up talking to the manager about it for 30 minutes.
Gabby and Summer Classics is now open at Annapolis Town Center and it seems like 2023 is the year to open cool furniture stores in Annapolis. First Reclaimed, now this. Along with Tuuci Umbrellas – aka the Ferrari of umbrellas – Gabby and Summer Classics has tons of semi-custom luxury furniture. The left side of the store (Gabby) is all indoor stuff. The right side (Summer Classics) is all outdoor stuff. Check out 8 more photos.

A night at the opera
The Annapolis Opera performs its final full show of the season at Maryland Hall this weekend. It’s an opera buffa (comic opera) called The Marriage of Figaro. You have two opportunities to be in the room where it happens. The first show is tonight at 7:30 PM and there are tickets left though you’ll be pretty far back. The second show is Sunday at 3 PM but if you want to be there you better:
A) Not mind going alone
B) Act fast. Like cheetah who just did cocaine fast.
At press time, there are literally 2 seat left in the entire theatre for Sunday. They aren’t together.
YouTubers at Westfield Annapolis
Husband & wife YouTube gaming duo Preston and Brianna Arsement (over 58 million combined subscribers) are doing a meet & greet at Annapolis Mall tomorrow from 12–5 PM. That’s cool. But this is really cool. They’re filming a video in the mall after closing time with 200 of YOU. It gets better. Those 200 people have a chance to win a share of $100,000. Apply here ASAP. The last question on the application . . . “Are you willing to film overnight?” 👀
📍 The meet & greet is across from Eddie Bauer.
Museum of Historic Annapolis turns one
Someone grab the party hats. The Museum of Historic Annapolis is celebrating one year at the coolest address in Annapolis this weekend – 99 Main Street. Stop by Sunday between 10 AM–2 PM if you haven’t seen the museum. It’s more well done than an Outback filet on half-price night. Join Historic Annapolis VP of Education and Interpretation Mary-Angela Hardwick for a special anniversary tour at 12 PM.
Hoops for Hope
Maybe it’s because Scoop rhymes with hoop but I love a good charity basketball game. From the bleachers, that is. 7-year-olds beat me one-on-one. Anne Arundel Police’s Blue Line Ballers square off with Recovery Anne Arundel’s Hope Shots this Sunday at 12:30 PM to benefit the George Phillips Jr. Community Recovery Center. My money’s on the Hope Shots. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Located in the Jenkins Gym at Anne Arundel Community College.

Ask me anything about college admissions
Nikki Bruno’s coached students into college for over a decade. So she’s seen countless changes to the admissions process. Next week, she’s hosting a webinar about the huge role character plays in the process. She’ll reveal the three character questions admissions committees consider. And more importantly, how to embrace those questions to stand out like a lighthouse in a storm. Register here. March 22 at 7:30 PM.*
