TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. This is Naptown Scoop, where we plan your social calendar like that one friend you had in high school who always knew where all the parties were.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Our favorite places to drink beer outside

  • Navy swimming at Olympic Trials

  • Bike Party Pride Ride

Let’s get to it.

The Blues are back in town

This is the worst kept secret in Annapolis. Can you even call it a secret if 11,171 people know about it?

On June 1st, we flooded the stadium to cheer on our Annapolis Blues and broke a NPSL attendance record. This Saturday (6/29) the Blues are back in action at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Our goal? Break the record again.

It’s Military Appreciation Night and we’re celebrating with tailgating and a thrilling game against Virginia Beach FC. Summer’s only getting hotter, but luckily the first 1,000 fans will receive a Blues cooling towel courtesy of Giant Foods. Tickets start at $8. We’ll see you there. Up the Blues!

THE DIGEST

LOCAL BUSINESS

Our favorite places to drink beer outside 🍻

There’s something about a brew with a view. Especially when it’s 90ºF. Here are a few of our favorite outdoor spots to drink beer around town.

🍺 Forward Brewing: The Eastport brewery and restaurant has some of the freshest beers and food around. Bonus: they’re dog and kid-friendly! 418 Fourth St, Annapolis, MD 21403.

🍺 Chessie’s Wharf: Eastern Shore RAR’s first foray into Annapolis (and hopefully not their last). The taproom features 38 draft selections, fantastic food, and singing fishies. 609 Melvin Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401.

🍺 Homestead Gardens Beer Farm: Cold brews for green thumbs? 👍 💚 Yes, please! Enjoy live entertainment and food trucks this weekend while you sip and shop. Yeah, you can take your beers inside. Summer hours are Friday: 3–8 PM; Saturday: 12–8 PM; and Sunday: 12–6 PM. 743 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035.

🍺 Garten: A modern beer and wine garden from the folks behind Preserve. Need we say more? 849 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Severna Park, MD 21146.

🍺 The Choptank: Beers on the roof is about as good as it gets. Add a crabcake and that is as good as its gets. Choptank’s is #4 on our Top 10 list. 110 Compromise St, Annapolis, MD 21401.

🍺 Davis’ Pub: The best motto around: Where there are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met. This Eastport watering hole is as local as local gets. 400 Chester Ave, Annapolis, MD 21403.

HERE. a pop-up shop opens Monday 🛍️ 🎨 🕯️ 🖼️

HERE is the perfect way to shop local. Here. a pop-up shop returns for its summer stint on Monday (7/1) at 186 Main St. Annapolis, MD 21401. Founder and Arnold resident Ellen Lunay supports nearly 100 local artists and makers with each shop! HERE’s open daily July 1–31. Sunday–Thursday hours: 10 AM–6 PM. Friday/Saturday hours: 10 AM–7 PM. While you wait, shop online 24/7 for art, décor, jewelry, and more!

Maligayang anibersaryo, Lasang Pinoy!

Yes, we just said “Happy Anniversary” in Filipino. That’s because Lasang Pinoy is coming up on a full year in business and will be celebrating this Sunday (6/30). The restaurant specializes in Filipino cuisine and is located where Nando’s used to be at Westfield Annapolis. To celebrate the milestone, Lasang Pinoy is offering 20% off all checks and a roast lechon special (whole pig, often eaten as a celebratory tradition in Filipino cuisine).

A MESSAGE OF BELONGING FROM ST. ANNE’S SCHOOL OF ANNAPOLIS

YOU BELONG HERE is not just a slogan, it’s embedded in everything we do at St. Anne’s School, including the books we read! Creating a sense of belonging is not only important to us as an Episcopal school and a welcoming community; we know how critical it is for a child’s academic success. As parents strive to avoid the “Summer Slide,” research shows that reading is the single most significant way to combat summer learning loss. And as we wrap up our Juneteenth and Pride month celebrations, why not incorporate books that foster a sense of belonging? Reading, Learning, Belonging, Welcoming, St. Anne’s School of Annapolis. YOU BELONG HERE.
