WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Theater Tuesday 🎭

A few local theater companies are well into their fall seasons, so you have some great options coming up on the calendar:

🛏 Compass Rose Theater presents Same Time, Next Year
This Tony-winning rom-com takes place over the course of 25 years as two lovers married to separate spouses meet for a secret rendezvous every year. The show runs through November 17.

🐸 CTA presents Tuck Everlasting
A little girl forges a secret friendship with an immortal family who’ve discovered the fountain of youth in this musical based on the beloved novel running at Children’s Theatre of Annapolis through November 3.

⚖️ Colonial Players presents The Winslow Boy
This compelling courtroom drama centers on a family in Elizabethan England as they seek to clear the name of their son who has been falsely accused of theft at boarding school. It opens this weekend and runs through November 16.

Read Between the Wines: Salute our Veterans 🍷🧀

Get ready to sip, savor, and salute! Mark your calendars for Read Between the Wines on Sunday, November 10, for an afternoon of wine, charcuterie, and live music at Great Frogs Winery in Annapolis. It’s going to be a grape time supporting the library and honoring our veterans. 🍇 Grab your early bird tickets by November 1 for $65 (or just $55 for vets). On-site sales will benefit our libraries—cheers to that! This event always sells out, so don’t wine about missing it! For ages 21 and up. Register today.

Let’s Meet Annapolis 👋

There are all kinds of reasons you might want to meet new people — you’re making new friends, doing some business networking, looking for volunteer opportunities, or trying to find a date. Whatever your reason for connecting, Let’s Meet Annapolis gives you the chance to do it. This first-ever meetup is Thursday 5:30–7:30 PM at Market House downtown, and there will be free appetizers, live music, food and drink specials, door prizes, and (of course) the chance to meet new people. Can’t make it? This will be a monthly community service event, so keep an eye out for future dates. Get info.

CIVIL NEWS

AA County teachers are getting a raise 🍎

And much-needed, at that! The Board of Ed has approved pay increases to accommodate a 3% cost of living increase, along with some modifications in employee healthcare plans. Teachers, counselors, and other school employees can expect a slight bump in their pay, and middle school sports coaches now have a salary scale based on their experience. The Teachers’ Association of Anne Arundel County sees this as a small step in the right direction which will hopefully help retain talented educators in the K-12 fields.

Excuse us while we brag about the Navy football squad . . . The undefeated Mids (6-0), who beat Charlotte 51-17 during Saturday’s homecoming game, were ranked No. 24 in not one, but two polls! The Mids moved up one spot in the Associated Press poll and made their debut at No. 24 in the AFCA Coaches poll. Navy faces Notre Dame (5-1 number #12 ranked team) on Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Catch it at noon on ABC and streaming on ESPN+. Say it with us, “GO NAVY, BEAT THE IRISH!” ⚓️ 🏈
