What do you want to see at 4 Church Circle?

There’s an exciting new development on Church Circle. There’s room for a two-level, 229-seat restaurant and a cafe/bakery. So we want to know what you want to see.

We’ll publish several suggestions in the Scoop later this week and pass along all ideas to Clint Ramsden and Cody Monroe – the locals behind the project. Click here to make your suggestion!

Theater Talk Tuesday

The Baker’s Wife at Colonial Players
Bread and romance (two of our favorite things) come together in this musical by Stephen Schwartz, the composer of Wicked. It opens this weekend and runs through March 30 at Colonial Players of Annapolis — 108 East Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.

Save the date: MRE Sock Burning

Apparently barefoot is back this weekend. The MRE has its annual sock burning Saturday at noon at Dark Horse. Bring some smelly old socks! Dark Horse is located at 985 Bay Ridge Road, Annapolis, MD 21403.

🧦 Fun fact: Sock burnings are a popular local tradition to welcome the end of winter. The switch to socklessness usually happens closer to the spring equinox, but it seems those Eastportaricans just can’t wait this year.

CIVIL NEWS

Wachs resting his gavel 👨‍⚖️

Judge J. Michael Wachs isn’t keeping his circuit court seat this year. After a 15-year term filled with several big criminal cases, he recently announced his retirement. His post-bench plans aren’t final but don’t expect the traditional Florida migration, Judge Wachs says he’s considering further work in law.

What’s next for the circuit court? Governor Wes Moore will appoint a judge for the seat until 2026. After that, voters will decide which judge will serve the next 15-year term. ($)

County Council says, “Whoops, never mind”

At the beginning of February, County Council passed a controversial resolution. It put the council’s admin staff under the supervision of all seven council members instead of just the council chair. The big question was: How does someone report to seven bosses? After significant pushback, the council recently amended the resolution to put supervisory responsibilities solely back with the council chair. ($)
