Got old photos of Annapolis?

Local drone photographer Jeff Voigt wants to see them. He’s going to revisit old scenes as they look today – just like the ones above with 62 years between them. The older the photo and the more recognizable the landmark the better. Message photos directly to Jeff on Facebook.

THE DIGEST

I hope no birds are reading this

Every county in Maryland has coyotes. But how many have coyotes that live on lighthouses? As far as we know, just ours. There’s just one thing you should know. It’s fake.

Birds and their droppings (AKA guano) have long targeted the beloved Thomas Point Lighthouse. You may have heard the decoy speakers trying to scare the birds away but that’s not working so well anymore. But photographer David Sites had an idea to put a decoy coyote on the lighthouse’s dock and that’s working great so far. Lighthouse manager John Potvin also ordered a new squawker system for the top of the lighthouse to keep the birds guessing.

The only question I have is, what should we name the coyote?

Here’s hoping they continue that streak.

LISTEN: Anchors Aweigh Podcast tackles a hot debate

Bill Wagner recently wrote a column about Navy football captain Jacob Busic’s decision to enter the college football transfer portal. Jacob entered the portal because he has 2 more years of eligibility and USNA doesn’t allow fifth-year seniors to play football. Bill’s column sparked some serious debate so who better to discuss it than Bill himself and fellow Navy athletics insider Pete Medhurst. Catch their insightful discourse on the latest episode of the Anchors Aweigh Podcast.

Bill and Pete also interviewed basketball head coach Ed DeChellis in advance of the team’s first Patriot League games. Listen wherever you get your podcasts and please subscribe if you like it!
