5 Tips for Getting on a Boat at the Annapolis Powerboat Show 🛥️

The Annapolis Powerboat Show is coming up soon (October 3–6) and with that, we’re releasing some pretty cool content this year. Starting with one of the most common questions we hear at the show. . .

Am I allowed to get on the boats? And if so, how do I do it?

Glad you asked. We recently talked with Mary Ewenson from the Annapolis Boat Shows team and she shared the goods – from what to expect to some common faux pas to avoid. Check out these tips! And don’t forget slip-on shoes 😉

Comfort in Crownsville

Tucked away on nearly an acre of land in Annapolis Preserve, 1507 Brewster Gate Road is the perfect blend of comfort and elegance. Head up the inviting stone pathway and into the elegant 2 story foyer. The formal living and dining rooms flow seamlessly into the casual dining and family rooms at the rear of the house, and the spacious gourmet kitchen is equipped with a breakfast nook and center island, ideal for both entertaining and everyday living.

Step out onto the expansive back deck and screened porch, where vaulted wood ceilings, composite decking, LED lighting, and an outdoor TV create a perfect spot to relax. Upstairs, the serene primary bedroom and spacious ensuite bath are a true retreat. 3 extra bedrooms ensure ample space for family and guests, and an unfinished lower level with 2,000 sqft offers endless possibilities. THE DIGEST

AACPS 3rd grade reading policy update 📖

Maryland aims to improve its student achievement ranking (currently 40th on the NAEP, aka the Nation’s Report Card) to the top 10 by 2027. The original literacy plan unveiled last month that called for “holding back third graders who don't read to level" has drawn controversy and sparked nearly 1,000 comments.

In the August update, students scoring above 735 on third-grade English on the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program can advance to fourth grade. Yet, under the proposed change outlined last Tuesday, parents can insist their child advances even if they don’t meet the criteria, provided they agree to additional support for the student, like summer school, before-or after-school tutoring, or other instructions “that take place outside of the school day.” The BOE could vote to approve the policy as soon as September, with the third-grade retention policy taking effect starting with the 2026–27 school year. 🎙 LISTEN: Navy football debuts new Wing-T offense

Our Navy Football Podcast returns for its fourth year with this episode about the Wing-T offense the Midshipmen installed in a season opener versus Bucknell on Saturday. Although the pod was recorded and dropped ahead of the season-opening game, there’s still plenty of good info from this discussion with Bill Wagner of The Baltimore Sun and Capital Gazette newspapers, former Navy football greats Eric Kettani and Keenan Reynolds, as well as producer Chris Servello. Listen now. And look out for the breakdown episode from this weekend’s game soon!
