TOGETHER WITH
Brad Kappel key and anchor logo

Good morning, Annapolis. This is Naptown Scoop and much like a Rice Krispies treat, we serve only the crispiest bits of news surrounded by sweet, sweet marshmallow.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Annapolis Blues last regular season game ⚽️ đŸ’™

  • Hospice Golf Tournament ⛳️

  • Among the Stars Gala ⭐️

Let’s get to it.

— Lauren Burke Meyer, Dylan Roche, & Ryan Sneddon

Don’t believe everything you hear. The Annapolis area real estate market is still hot

We’ve heard the rumors, too. Houses aren’t selling like they used to. If you sell now it’s too late. But we don’t believe any of it.

That’s because Brad Kappel is consistently moving houses in this market. Last weekend, Brad put two houses under contract over list price after just a few days on the market. How does he do it?

Impeccable marketing, high-quality photos and videos, and expert pricing based on decades in the Annapolis real estate market.

It’s not too late to sell. Make Your Move in 2024 with Brad Kappel.

THE DIGEST

Wrapping up Annapolis Hope’s big week at Wrabyn

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The generosity of Annapolis blows me away sometimes. Last week was one of those times. Wrabyn, a beautiful women’s clothing boutique in West Annapolis, hosted a weeklong fundraiser for Annapolis Hope. They donated 10% of their sales, but they didn’t stop there.

Wendy and her team also gathered six local businesses together to give something amazing way every day of the week. And of course, Wrabyn donated something, too.

  • Ken’s Creative Kitchen

  • Yoga Factory

  • Eternal Thai Massage

  • InGrano

  • Zachary’s Jewelers

  • Forward Brewing

All told, Wrabyn raised $8,260 for Annapolis Hope last week and because of our anonymous donor’s generous match, that counts for $16,520 towards our goal!

So thanks, Wrabyn. Thanks to all the local businesses who donated. And thanks to you, who shopped at Wrabyn all week long. We’re nearly to our goal. Let’s cross the finish line strong.

🗓 J. McLaughlin Sip & Shop one week away

Gratefull correction

We were so excited to share our love of Gratefull, the new family-run bakery located just outside of Annapolis, but we didn’t rise to the occasion. The link in the original story was incorrect and our breadcrumbs led many of you off in the wrong direction. We apologize.

Check out Gratefull’s actual website to place your order for some amazing bakes like sourdough breads, sweet treats, and other provisions.

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Happy Fourth of July Eve

If you’re that guy or gal who likes to wait until the literal 11th hour to make plans (✋), now is your time to sparkle. 🎇

Don’t worry – we’ve gathered all the info to help you plot your course tomorrow. Check out our 2024 Fourth of July Guide for parade and party info . . . but also all the practical stuff like parking, boating, trash pick-up, closures, etc. See you at the parade! You know which one. 😉

P.S. We’ll have a short edition of Scoop tomorrow and no Scoop Friday so our team can enjoy the holiday. Lauren’s at the beach. Dylan’s probably running really far. And Ryan’s trying to fix the kegerator a longtime Scoop fan donated to our new office.

Annapolis Blues final game of regular season ⚽️

Our Annapolis Blues have had an incredible season already this year. They’re currently ranked #2 in the nation with 8 wins (so far!) and only 1 loss. You have one more chance to see your Blues in (regular season) action this Saturday at 7 PM at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The team will play their last home match of the regular season against Grove Soccer United. After that, it’s onto the playoffs. The Blues clinched the #1 seed in the Mid-Atlantic conference for the 2024 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) playoffs!

Plus, the team has seen a lot of great support from all you fans out there in Annapolis, shattering attendance records left and right. The home opener broke the NPSL league attendance record at 11,171 fans! Don’t miss the final match — tickets start at $8.

Among the Stars Gala ⭐️

Have you heard there’s going to be a Maryland Walk of Fame? The downtown walkway will feature stars honoring famous Marylanders. The first star will be dedicated to Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, and actress Toni Braxton.

Come celebrate the launch of the Walk of Fame at the Among the Stars Gala on September 13 at the Westin Annapolis. You’ll feel like a star at this black-tie event which includes a gallery reception, seated dinner, music from the Cab Calloway Orchestra, proceedings to honor Ms. Braxton, and the night concludes with a champagne toast and dancing. 🥂 Seating is limited, so get your tickets asap.

SPORTS

Viviano signing off 🎙

Mark Viviano, longtime sportscaster for WBAL-TV and WJZ-TV, announced his retirement on social media earlier this week. July 18 will be the last day on air for Viviano, who spent much of his 40-year career covering hometown faves like the Orioles and Ravens. He has been named Maryland Sportscaster of the Year five times throughout his career. Viviano says he plans to spend more time with family and enjoy sports from the sidelines, including coaching his sons’ sports teams. ⚽ đŸ€ âšž ($)
