THE DIGEST

Infamous Nantucket yacht now in Annapolis

It appears this story is following me. While I was visiting friends in Nantucket last week, an 80-foot yacht called Jess Conn was all the rage. About two weeks ago, police raided the yacht in Nantucket Harbor and arrested its owner, a Florida resident.

He was arraigned for a slew of things, including possessing lots of drugs and two guns. Later stories revealed that prostitutes were also on board.

The boat left Nantucket last Tuesday because the owner’s selling it and guess where it is now? That’s right. Annapolis, MD.

New food pantry on wheels 🚚

35% of county residents can’t meet their basic needs, including food. And since not all residents can travel to a food pantry, the Food Bank is launching a truck to bring the pantry to them. This custom can van hold 3,000 pounds of food and serves 100 households with each visit. The Mobile Pantry launches today (9/18) at 11:30 AM at the Food Bank.

P.S. September is Hunger Action Month. Take action against hunger every day with this handy calendar.

CIVIL NEWS

Lucky decade of Bridge tolls could be over 🍀 đŸŒ‰

The good news: What I’m about to tell you isn’t confirmed. The bad news: MTA is considering raising Bay Bridge tolls. It hasn’t done that since 2011, but the authority says it needs more revenue due to increased operating costs and repairs. Executive director Joseph Sagal didn’t give any specifics on timing or price. So we’ll cross our fingers that rumors stay rumors. 🤞

St. Mary’s Athletic Director stepping down

Allison Fondale is stepping down after almost 10 years leading athletics at St. Mary’s High School. During her time at the helm, St. Mary’s won no less than 28 championships, 5 of them in the last year. St. Mary’s also sent 42 athletes into college sports last year – a school record.
