When's Pip's reopening, charcuterie workshops, Maryland Day...

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. A British actor named Tom Hollander once mistakenly an Avengers paystub meant for Tom Holland. Now Iā€™m hoping thereā€™s a very prosperous Bryan Sneddon out there with a sloppy accounting department.

In todayā€™s Naptown Scoop:

  • Whenā€™s Pipā€™s reopening?

  • Charcuterie workshops

  • Maryland Day

Letā€™s get to it.

InGrano is now open in West Annapolis

And it is delicious. If you ever went to any special dinners at InGranoā€™s Truman Parkway bistro, I donā€™t need to tell you that. The kitchen at InGrano is talented, creative, and now. . . open 6 nights a week.

Just like they said before opening, itā€™s elevated global cuisine. I tried the Wagyu Short Rib Wellington, InGranoā€™s version of the famous English dish, and it was spectacular. Jeremiah from Peake Social ordered the Lamb Pesto and it was perfect. And Jeremiahā€™s fiancee, Haley, had the Maidstone Harvest Salad which was generous and fresh.

To make a long story short, if you loved Flamant, youā€™ll love the new InGrano. If you love InGranoā€™s bistro, youā€™ll obviously love the new InGrano. And if you just love eating things you canā€™t get anywhere else ā€“ duck carbonara, anybody? ā€“ then youā€™ll also love the new InGrano.

Try it out at 17 Annapolis Street in West Annapolis Monday through Saturday. Click here for reservations.

Major stories this week

Jimmy Johnā€™s and Mission BBQ close downtown locations. Ironically, both still have locations in town in or near Annapolis Town Center. We donā€™t know what will replace either one downtown.

Food trucks are now less restricted in Annapolis city limits. They still canā€™t park in the historic district, but they can park almost anywhere else as they have the proper operating permits and permission from private property owners.

WNAV will now broadcast the Anchors Aweigh Podcast. Further reinforcing itself as the radio home of Navy sports, WNAV 1430 AM will now broadcast the latest episode of our Anchors Aweigh podcast every Saturday morning at 9.

LOCAL BUSINESS

Tips for Pips (plus reopening target date) šŸŒ

Due to our recent near-record flooding, many Dock Street establishments are still closed. Pipā€™s sustained quite a bit of damage and lost expensive equipment. In true Annapolis fashion, our community rallied around the popular hot dog joint ā€“ Market House in particular. They held a fundraiser last Saturday while the Ravens defense drowned the Texans in the Inner Harbor.

In a Facebook update, Pipā€™s owner Ryan Lamy said heā€™s ordered new equipment, Servpro has deep cleaned the place, and as soon as he has health department approval, Pipā€™s will be back in business. His target is February 3 but please be patient in case that doesnā€™t happen. That was a lot of water.

Fresh Green Annapolis Grand Opening šŸ„—

Fresh Green Annapolisā€™ grand opening is this Saturday (1/27) from 11 AMā€“8 PM. Thereā€™s a one-day special where you can buy one salad and get another 20% off. I donā€™t know about you, but I always love seeing another convenient, healthy salad spot in town. And the Annapolis Harbour Center (2574 Solomons Island Road) is the perfect home for the new clean eating option.

A MESSAGE FROM YOGA FACTORY

She just turned 80 and does yoga 4 times a week

Tinaā€™s not your average 80-year-old. Heck, most 50-year-olds I know complain about aches and pains. But no matter what, Tina does yoga four days a week. Itā€™s one of her secrets to staying young.

She loves Bikram (aka hot yoga) but she takes gentle Yin and Restorative classes too. Thatā€™s why Tina loves Yoga Factory. Along with Bikram, they offer four unheated, gentle styles of yoga.

Stay young with us. At Yoga Factory, we love having you here. No matter your age.

WHATā€™S HAPPENINā€™

Family fun at Navy basketball šŸ€

Looking for a fun (and inexpensive) activity for your kids this weekend? Navy menā€™s basketball takes on Loyola at home Saturday at 1 PM (1/27). Buy your tickets here. Pro tip: park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for $5 then take the free shuttle bus. See the game day guide for more details.

Boards & Bubbly Workshop Dates šŸ§€šŸ„‚

Donā€™t worry, Brie happy. Caitā€™s Cheeseā€™s hotly awaited Boards & Bubbly workshop dates are out. Create a charcuterie board and learn tips and tricks all while sipping on some bubbly! Workshops are held with charcuterie artist Caitlin Crouse at The Big Cheese (47 Randall Street) from 7ā€“10 PM and cost $100 per person. The first date? February 13 for a Valentineā€™s board creation. ā¤ļø Donā€™t save the date. Sign up now because itā€™s likely to fill up fast like last time. And make sure to check out the other dates as well!

Save the date: Celebrate Maryland Day 2024

Where else can you get Old Bay on pretty much anything and experience all four seasons in the same week? Our state deserves its own holiday. Luckily, we have one ā€” March 25. Itā€™s the anniversary of settlers establishing the Maryland colony back in 1634 (though wasnā€™t a state holiday until 1916). You can celebrate all things Maryland culture and history throughout the greater Annapolis area during the weekend leading up to the big day, March 22ā€“24. An official lineup of events drops next month so keep an eye on marylandday.org for details as they develop šŸ¦€ šŸˆ

Severn School to add volleyball next year

For the first time in 16 years, Severn School is adding a new sport to its athletic offerings. The Severna Park Voice broke the news this week that the local independent school will offer girls volleyball starting in the 2024ā€“2025 school year under the coaching of Erin Bernhardt, former Division I and international player. Erinā€™s heading to Severn after six seasons at Severnā€™s cross-county rival, St. Maryā€™s.
