Introducing Anchors Aweigh
Naptown Scoop has never done a good job covering Navy sports. Mostly because Iām not a journalist. And while I love a good game, Iām far from a sports expert. Thatās why Iām excited to announce Anchors Aweigh ā a partnership between Naptown Scoop and Bill Wagner.
Bill is the quintessential Navy sports expert. Heās covered Navy sports for the Capital/Baltimore Sun for longer than Iāve been alive. Bill will be co-hosting our brand new podcast covering Navy sports, Anchors Aweigh, alongside Pete Medhurst. Peteās been the Voice of Navy Sports on the radio since 1997. Itās not an exaggeration to say itād be impossible to find two better professionals to host this podcast.
Weāll publish a new Anchors Aweigh podcast every week during the school year ā starting with a Womenās Soccer spotlight next week.
Iām also excited to share that Bill Wagner has brought his successful Navy Football Podcast to Anchors Aweigh. Once the season kicks off in Ireland, weāll bring you two episodes of expert analysis every week featuring Bill and former Navy & NFL players Keenan Reynolds and Eric Kettani.
Both Anchors Aweigh and the Navy Football Podcast are available wherever you listen to podcasts. For sponsorship opportunities, please email [email protected].

THE DIGEST
Save this date: 60th anniversary of the March on Washington
On August 28, 1963, 250k people took to D.C. for the March on Washington. 500 came from Annapolis. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered a very famous speech (you know the one!) in which he dreamed of racial equality.
To celebrate 60 years since that day, Annapolis is hosting a good old fashioned reenactment on August 26. It departs Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and ends at City Dock, where a short ceremony will follow. Annapolitan George Trotter who marched in 1963 will be in attendance.
Weāll be highlighting this event more as it approaches so stay tuned.
āļø Summer storm leaves its mark
Downed trees. Gusty winds. Flooding at City Dock. Whatta storm. 600 county customers were still without power on Tuesday morning. If youāre one of those customers (and still have battery life to read this) make sure to report your outage and leave the area if power lines are down.
