THE DIGEST
Annapolis Almanac: Mame Warren š·

Behind every great photographer is . . . well, in this case, his daughter who curates his work and compiles them in books. Weāre talking about Mame Warren, daughter of renowned photographer Marion Warren, whose Chesapeake-centric photography was published by renowned magazines throughout the 20th century. We like to think of him as the Slim Aarons of Maryland.
When Mame graduated college, her father hired her to file film negatives. With the help of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, she established the Mame Warren Collection of Historic Photographs of Annapolis. She also served as the curator of photographs at the Maryland State Archives, where she increased the collection of historic photos to 100,000+ between 1986 and 1995. On top of that, she published seven books of photos and histories about Annapolis, the Chesapeake Bay, and Baltimore.

Chesapeake Chapters: Charlie STEPs UP to LACROSSE š„š
Lax season is in full swing. So, weāre sharing Scoop writer Laurenās childrenās book, Charlie STEPs UP to LACROSSE. Her motivational story comes complete with a lacrosse playbook of lessons and inspirational songs.
Lauren ā a longtime coach who played D1 lacrosse at Penn State ā wrote the book to give kids better access to a game that gave her so much. Proceeds benefit the Step Up Lacrosse Charity, which helps underprivileged youth learn lacrosse through clinics, camps, gear, and more. Grab a copy at Park Books, The Cottage, or Amazon.
Fun fact: Lauren shared photos of Eastport homes with her illustrator, Al, for inspiration. Her love for Annapolis runs deep!
šļø Holiday Waste Collection
So, we know Easter falls on a Sunday every year, which means no changes to trash collection. Except Good Friday is also a holiday, and the countyās Waste Management Services facilities (i.e. the Millersville Landfill, the Resource Recovery Facility, and the Recycling Centers) will be closed ā trash pickup will continue as normal though. Facilities will reopen on Saturday. There wonāt be any changes for City of Annapolis residents.
Pirate Adventures is open on spring break!
After eight years, Pirate Adventures is open for spring break shenanigans. The last time this happened was 2017, and it ended up allowing Annapolisā rowdiest tour company to break its own attendance records. Since then, poor weather, early Easters, and staffing have made issues for the crew, and theyāve kept the boat in its slip. If you need the spring break excitement without leaving town, raise the Jolly Rodger and stick a cutlass in your teeth: theyāre ready to cast off for adventures. ($)
