MRE Bridge Run, EWE Spirit Cup happy hour, Taste of Spring on West Street...

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s terrific weather instead of spending all day inside doing your taxes.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • 0.05K bridge run

  • EWE Spirit Cup happy hour

  • Taste of Spring on West Street

Let’s get to it.

St. John’s wins again

Photo: Drone US Photography

According to legend, the Annapolis Cup began in 1982 when the Naval Academy commandant boasted to St. John’s freshman Kevin Heyburn that the Mids could beat the Johnnies in any sport and Kevin asked, “What about croquet?” Turns out, Kevin was right.

Prior to Saturday, the Johnnies had won 31 out of 39 Annapolis Cups. And after Saturday, the Johnnies have won 32 out of 40.

Congratulations to the Johnnies but let’s be honest, the real winners are the spectators who put on an absolute fashion show on the St. John’s campus. Want to see? Check out 50+ photos from Drone US Photography’s Shane Kilberg.

THE DIGEST

1 month to the MRE Bridge Run

Hate running? This might be your new favorite race: the MRE Bridge Run. Runner’s World calls it “the least challenging athletic event ever conceived,” likely because it’s only across the Spa Creek Bridge. It starts at the crack of noon on Saturday, May 11, and most people finish the race by 12:05 PM (or sooner). Register in advance here.

F4AC registration is live 🎣

Fish For A Cure (F4AC) is quite the catch when it comes to fundraisers. And you can now register! Celebrate on November 9 with a day of fishing on the Chesapeake Bay followed by the Shore Party celebrating both the biggest fish and the most dollars raised. F4AC raises funds for cancer care in our community and benefits Luminis Health’s Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute. Email [email protected] for questions or guidance on team building and fundraising.

Tomorrow marks the one-week countdown for the advance voter registration deadline for Maryland’s Primaries. That’s if you plan to register online or by mail. If you don’t register by April 23, no need to panic — you can still register in person during early voting or on election day (May 14). But it’s always a good idea to plan ahead if you can!

Taste of Spring on West Street 🍽️ đŸ’

After yesterday, spring is definitely in the air. So this is a great time to think ahead to Dinner Under the Stars – which starts May 18. But shutting down a street for dinner, pickleball, music, and dancing isn’t cheap. So the Inner West Street Association is hosting a fundraiser this weekend to help with the costs.

Taste of Spring ticket holders will savor a delicious menu from six restaurants that participate in Dinner Under the Stars: Rams Head, Luna Blu, Picante, Stan and Joe’s, 49 West, and Tsunami. The Ballet Theatre of Maryland will perform. And there will be raffles, door prizes, and an Earth Day-inspired plant sale. Date: Sunday (4/21) from 2–6 PM

☔️ Rain date: April 27.

What’s Historic London Town & Gardens? 🌺 đŸŒłđŸŞť

It’s a “lost” colonial town and garden sanctuary on the South River in Edgewater. And you can see it and learn all about its mission at London Town in Bloom on May 10. It’s a wonderful waterfront evening of dinner and dancing. And you won’t believe how beautiful the gardens are. Get tickets and learn about sponsorship opportunities.

Nothing in this section is sponsored. They're just the things you need to know. I'll always let you know when something's sponsored.
