Let’s get to it.

Lisa Rodvien crowned inaugural Mover and Shaker of the Year
If I had to guess, Lisa Rodvien just won the strangest trophy of her life – a gilded pepper shaker wearing a tutu. It was her prize for being Mover and Shaker of the Year at the inaugural Movers & Shakers, a fundraiser for the Benjamin Mario Shadrick Foundation and Maryland Hall.
Lisa’s winning routine was a bachata with Alexander Collen from the Ballet Theatre of Maryland. As one judge said, it was “hot, hot, HOT!”
Congratulations to Lisa Rodvien for winning the competition and well done to Maryland Hall and the Benjamin Mario Shadrick Foundation for hosting such a unique fundraiser. Thanks to all of our readers who came out to see if I really have two left feet. –RS
If you didn’t notice it in the Scoop over the past 6 months, Movers and Shakers was a Dancing With the Stars-style competition featuring 7 local leaders:
🏆 Lisa Rodvien | District 6 Councilmember, Anne Arundel County
Chanel Compton | Executive Director, Banneker-Douglass Museum
Laura Gutierrez | Board President, Organization for Hispanic Latin Americans (OHLA)
Mary Spencer | President, Community Foundation of Anne Arundel County
Steuart Pittman | County Executive, Anne Arundel County

Right now, the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade is ranked the #5 best holiday parade in the whole damn country (according to USA Today’s readers). Voting is open until noon on 11/29 and you can vote once per day. So let’s stuff the ballot box and overtake Detroit, Philly, and yes. . . the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to get our little town to number one!
Cash for Schools raises $30k
This fall, when you ran into K&B True Value for a project, you had the option to donate to local schools. And thanks to generous sponsors, your donations were matched twice. Now that Cash for Schools is wrapped up, here’s the final count: $30,377. It goes to 17 local schools with no spending restrictions.
Shoutout to the organizer, K&B True Value owner Jared Littman and sponsors Bay Ridge Wine & Spirits, Evolve Direct Primary Care, Ledo Pizza, and Eye on Annapolis.
Annapolis HS junior ROTC wins award
Annapolis High School's Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is 30 years old and more decorated than ever. It just snagged a Distinguished Unit Award with Academic Honors, landing in the top 20% of 600 NJROTC units nationwide. Its 102 cadets recorded over 4,000 community service hours last year. The award means up to three eligible cadets can be nominated for appointment to the Naval Academy, Military Academy, or Air Force Academy.

SPORTS
Army-Navy drip
Creating special uniforms for big games has become a huge part of sports culture. The Army-Navy game is no exception. Here’s what Navy’s wearing in Foxborough on December 9.
The uniform honors the “Silent Service” – AKA the submarine force of the U.S. Navy. Its primary color is Eclipse Navy (Under Armour’s darkest navy blue) to mimic the covert design of submarine hulls. The only things in high contrast white (just like a submarine’s hull numbers) are those that require on-field readability – player number and name, Navy’s wordmark, etc.
Each helmet is hand-painted with color-changing paint and features a Virginia Class sub, sonar, and a Navy anchor with a submariner pin.
Visit silentserviceuniform.com to get a closer look and don’t miss the Silent Service gear shop.
Broadneck football rolls on with incredible victory
The Broadneck Bruins made an epic comeback against Northwest in the Class 4A state quarterfinal on Friday. With five minutes left in the game, the Bruins were down 20–14 with their backs against the wall. That’s when senior linebacker Logan McGill came up huge with a 70-yard pick six. Christopher Coleman put the extra point through and the Bruins defense held to win 21–20.
No Anne Arundel team has won the state title since 2013. But the Bruins still have some work to do. They face #1 seed Winston Churchill on the road this Friday. Good luck, Bruins! 🐻 ($)
