Kate Myers’s Excavations gets TV show

Here’s some news we really dig: Excavations, the bestseller by Annapolitan Kate Myers, is being adapted for TV. You might’ve read Kate’s book when it came out in 2023 — it’s about a group of four very different women on an archeological dig in Greece, and it’s hilarious. But don’t take our word for it, because Amy Poehler thinks so too (yes, the Amy Poehler). She dubbed it one of her favorite books she read last year, and she’s producing the series for Peacock alongside Parks & Recreation co-creator Mike Schur. Kate has co-executive producer credit.

Let’s dig into the details: The show will be called Dig. Amy Poehler’s starring (for those who’ve read the book, she’s playing Elise) and will co-write the pilot. If you haven’t read Excavations yet, you can get a copy wherever books are sold, but we highly recommend a local shop like Old Fox Books, Park Books, or Wyrd.
