I want a hippopotamus Waterfront Estate for Christmas đ
Can you name something literally anyone would want under their Christmas tree? I can. This phenomenal and totally renovated home perched high above the Severn River.
And the best thing is you can move into this home before Christmas. The recent down-to-the-studs renovation is 100% complete and ready to host friends and family this holiday season. On the expansive ipe deck, maybe? Donât forget the heaters. Or maybe in the great room with LaCantina floor to ceiling glass doors? It has the same great views but itâs much warmer.
205 Winchester Beach Drive has 180Âş elevated views of the Severn River, a private deep water pier, exquisite finishes, and even a pool permit in hand. All in the Blue Ribbon Broadneck school district.
This 5 bedroom, 5.5 bathroom home has it all and it could be yours before Christmas! Contact Brad Kappel for your private tour today.
THE DIGEST
Look inside the USNA Sponsor Program
If youâve spent any time in Annapolis, youâve probably heard the phrases, âsponsor kidsâ or âsponsor family.â And if you donât know, they refer to the Naval Academyâs Sponsor Program. Local families (within 35 miles of the Yard) provide an off-campus refuge, food (lots of it), and emotional support for students at the Naval Academy.
Other service academies have similar programs, but they arenât as robust as Annapolis. Naval Academy Sponsors often become like family. Sometimes they actually become family; program director Rose Clark says, âWeâve had sponsors whose kids eventually attended the academy, and others whose sons or daughters married the mid they were sponsoring.â
The Capital just published an amazing article about the Sponsor Program for the holidays and while it requires a subscription, itâs 100% worth the read. Check it out.
What was happening on the Harbor Queen during the EYC Lights Parade
Did you see everyone on the Harbor Queen getting an amazing view during the EYC Lights Parade? They bought their way onto the boat, but not with some expensive ticket or by knowing someone at Watermark. They either brought a non-perishable food item, pet food, or $10 to the Queen of All Fund Drives for We Care and Friends. In the end, over 300 guests raised over $2,600 for the local nonprofit dedicated to creating strong families and communities in areas affected by drugs, poverty, and crime.
17 nonprofits receive funding from Crab Feast đŚ
1,100 hungry attendees made the 78th Rotary Club of Annapolis Crab Feast on August 4 a success. After all that eating (it took us 4 months to digest), the Rotary Club has announced the 17 local nonprofits receiving grant funding from the feast. The Anne Arundel County Food Bank, Hospice of the Chesapeake, Seeds 4 Success, and CASA are just a few. See the rest here.
P.S. The next Crab Feast is August 2, 2024 đ

Brass Tap reveals expansion plans that include Annapolis
The Brass Tap is trying to tap back in. This âupscale beer barâ used to be at Westfield Annapolis but it closed last year and the fabulous Original Pancake House moved in. Now, weâre hearing the chain is eyeing Annapolis up again. The Florida-based franchisor is planning three new locations in the next five years â including Annapolis. Franchisees have been identified but sites havenât been chosen or announced.

WHATâS HAPPENINâ
Midnight Madness, round 2
đ We recently overheard (ok, eavesdropped) someone at ATCâs Holly Jolly Hideaway say, âMidnight Madness? Isnât that a basketball thing?â
Weâre here to set the story straight. Midnight Madness is tomorrow and there are no free throws or three-pointers. Thatâs March Madness. For three Thursdays only (tomorrowâs the second), downtown turns into a kid at a sleepover and stays up until midnight. Shops are open late, carolers fill the street, and there are even some alpacas. Itâs a blast and an Annapolis holiday treasure. 4 PMâmidnight.
Be sure to stop by HEREâs holiday pop-up @ 4 Church Circle to support Annapolis Hope by picking up a couple limited-edition Naptown Scoop candles!
Very Annapolis caroling
What type of caroler are you? The traditionalist? The harmonizer? The goofball that shouts unscripted flair between verses? Whatever your style, the Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park wants you on their Caroling Cruise. It sets sail Thursday (12/14) from the AMM Docks with holiday snacks, drinks, and song sheets. 6â8 PM for ages 21+. Click here for tickets. And even after youâve disembarked with no voice, youâll still have 4 hours of Midnight Madness!

SPORTS
Brains and Brawn
Something must be in the water in the Navy womenâs rugby locker room. Just a month after senior fullback AJ Ward earned a Rhodes Scholarship, senior captain Charlotte d'Halluin has earned a Marshall Scholarship. Charlotte is a mechanical engineering major who sustained a 3.96 GPA last semester. Sheâs currently ranked 37th in the Overall Order of Merit for the Class of 2024 and finished second on the rugby team in points scored.
