A MESSAGE FROM MORABITO FAMILY DENTAL

Don’t Fall Behind on Your Dental Care

Autumn is here. A time for pumpkin lattes & Halloween treats. In other words, a lot of sugar. That’s why it’s important to remember to schedule your teeth cleaning.

Most insured patients pay nothing for their cleaning at Morabito Family Dental and we offer great payment plans for uninsured patients. With hours from 7AM to 8PM and on Saturdays, you’ll be able to schedule an appointment at a time that works for you.  Schedule online here (insert link) or give us a call at 443-603-9000.

We’re proud of our commitment to the Annapolis community & look forward to helping you maintain excellent oral health.

THE DIGEST

Top clicks of the week 🏆

Major stories from this week

A prospective trendy new restaurant, a songwriters festival, and a boat show — we think some of these big headlines from the past week were decidedly Annapolitan, wouldn’t you agree? Just to recap:

🥘 First, we told you how Atlas Restaurant Group, best known here for The Choptank, recently signed a lease at 142 Dock Street, the former location of Stevens Hardware. We don’t know exactly what kind of restaurant is going in yet — but we’ll definitely report back as soon as we find out.

🎸 Then there’s the Annapolis Songwriters Festival, which opened yesterday and runs through Sunday with performances at venues all throughout the city. Be sure to check out the website for the full lineup of performers, when they’re playing, and where.

🛥 Finally, we shared ideas for 5 things you can do at the Annapolis Boat Show (Oct. 3-6) besides buying a boat: Drinking a painkiller at Pusser’s, take holiday photos, go on a scavenger hunt with the kids, learn to sail with the First Sail Workshop, and learn something new from one of the many seminars.

Leadership Maryland opens applications for 2025

Applications for Leadership Maryland’s prestigious Executive Program and Emerging Leader Program just opened up. Now through the end of October, you can apply to be part of the 2025 class. Where were we Wednesday? 📸

ANSWER:

To no one’s surprise, a lot of you recognized this dark corner for dark deeds. It’s a sexy ‘lil booth in Harold Black, the speakeasy-themed downstairs sister of Acqua Al 2. You might walk right on by the School Street entrance, but if you find it, it’s well worth the visit for its handcrafted cocktails, innovative bar bites, and access to Acqua’s full menu.

Thanks for playing @everyone! (Unfortunately, due to a technical glitch, we won’t be able to share winners this week . . . therefore, you’re all winners!) 🎉

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Foodie Friday 🍦🦀🍹

🍷 What’s an oenophile? Why, a connoisseur of wines, of course. 🥂 Did you know that Fox’s Den has a wine-lover’s special on Wednesday nights? If you buy any bottle of wine, you get a brick oven pizza or an item from the Market section of the menu for free! Now you might know Where are We? on Wednesdays!

🎃 We were trying not to mention the “PS” phrase quite yet (pumpkin spice!) . . . BUT the Annapolis Juice Shop (aka RASA) just brought back everyone’s favorite protein smoothie flavor. You guessed it: Pumpkin Spice Protein Smoothie, which is made with vegan protein, organic pumpkin and spices, cashew milk, flax seeds and other healthy goodness. Just embrace the PS, y’all!

🦪 Here’s another fall fave: oysters! Harvest Thyme Tavern hosts many amazing culinary events throughout the year and this Saturday’s is no exception. The Oyster Thyme Feast is 12–5 PM and reservations are required. For $130 per person, sip and shuck your way through a delightful spread of raw oysters and inspired appetizers such as Oyster Stew, Fried Oysters, and Oyster Po’boys, as well as a wine tasting carefully selected by Chef Rik. Food is unlimited, wine tasting is select, not unlimited. Bonus: they will recycle all shells and donate $10 from each ticket to the Oyster Recovery Partnership. Reservations are required or call for same day reservations.

Happening now: AA County Fair 🎡

If you haven’t made it over to the Anne Arundel County Fair (1450 Generals Highway, Crownsville) yet this week, don’t worry — the festivities continue through the weekend! Today happens to be Children’s Day, 9 AM–2 PM, when kiddos up to age 8 get free admission and age 9+ get in for $5. The fair will be open for the weekend: 5 PM–10 PM tonight, 9 AM–11 PM tomorrow, and 9 AM–8 PM Sunday.

So, what can you expect? The county fair has something for everyone: carnival rides, livestock auctions, agriculture and craftwork exhibits, and live entertainment. Headlining music acts include the Amish Outlaws tomorrow and Red Dirt Revolution on Sunday. Check out the full entertainment schedule.

Did you know: This is the 72nd year of the Anne Arundel County Fair? This is a longstanding tradition that includes activities from pig races to quilt demonstrations. Find details in this year’s catalog.

Celebrations for Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month

This weekend marks the start of Hispanic/Latino Heritage Month (Sept. 15–Oct. 15), and the City of Annapolis is ready to celebrate. You might notice flags of Latin American and Spanish-descended countries along Main Street, which gives local residents a great excuse to come downtown and take a pic with their county of origin’s flag. But that’s not all Annapolis has in store…

Mark your calendar:

🖋 Virtual Poetry Contest Open Sept. 15–Nov. 15

🖼 Latino Art Galleries @ City Hall Sept. 12–Oct. 31 during business hours (artist reception Sept. 18, 5–6 PM)

🎊 City Dock Fiesta Sept. 24, 6–10 PM at City Dock

💀 Day of the Dead Festival Oct. 28, 3–8 PM at Maryland Hall

Get more info for any of these events.

Save the date: Charting Careers x Forward fundraiser

Giving every student an opportunity to succeed is something we can all raise a glass to. 🍻 So join Charting Careers for a fundraiser to kick off the new school year at Forward Brewing (418 Fourth Street, Annapolis) next Tuesday (9/17) 5–7 PM. Proceeds benefit this nonprofit’s mission of helping Annapolis-area youth and their families achieve their full potential through mentorship, education, and other opportunities. Can’t make it? You can still donate.

Maryland Seafood Festival

Normally the weekend crowds head to Sandy Point State Park to chill on the beach or maybe drop a boat in the water. But this weekend, you can head over there for a seafood extravaganza! The Maryland Seafood Festival runs 11 AM to 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday featuring purveyors of the finest seafood, live music, and tons of family fun. Learn more and grab tickets!

Nothing in this section is sponsored. They're just the things you need to know. I'll always let you know when something's sponsored.
