🍦Naptown Scoop is turning four!

New bike path, Scoop’s weekend picks, new student board member…

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. This is Naptown Scoop, where we serve hot and fresh Annapolis news like chicken teriyaki samples in a mall food court. And we never give you the look for coming back twice.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • A new bike path?

  • Scoop’s weekend picks

  • New student Board of Education member

Let’s get to it.

P.S. Happy birthday, Jeff Borland! 🎂

Naptown Scoop is turning 4 and we’re celebrating!

4 years ago, I was sitting at my parents’ house during Covid when I decided to go for it.

I’d quit my job to start a business in January 2020, though I didn’t know which business. Never been much for planning. In July 2020, I still had nothing to show for it. Until I sent 70 people an email about what was happening around Annapolis that week.

Fast forward to today. . . 19,077 Annapolitans are reading this email. Scoop has a team of 8 people (including me). And we just rented our first office.

It’s been an incredible journey. And every year the journey continues, we celebrate at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. It’s not a money grab. We actually donate all the proceeds (this year to Annapolis Hope). It’s just a time for our incredible community to get together.

This year’s party is on August 16 and tickets are live today. If you’re a Super Fan, email us for your discount code. If you’d like to become a Super Fan, this is for you.

Thanks for the last 4 years.

Located right on Ego Alley, The Choptank is known for its appetizing menu, live music, and prime location. It’s the perfect spot to escape the summer sun. The temps are in the 80s and 90s all week long, and what better way to beat the heat than with a breeze off the Bay and drinks on the deck. Make the most of Summer and make a reservation today!

A bike-friendlier Annapolis 🚲

Let’s say you’re cycling into Annapolis from the B&A Trail. Boulters Way and Rt. 450 have wide shoulders, but once you cross the Naval Academy Bridge, you better like riding on the road. Local bike advocates and City officials have proposed an extended bike path from the Naval Academy Bridge to the other side of College Creek on King George Street and the intersection of Annapolis Street and Taylor Avenue. Annapolis’ chief comprehensive planning officer says it’s “the missing link between downtown Annapolis and the B&A trail.” ($)

Last call for Annapolis Wears Hope

Alright, y’all. Aside from when we thank the Wrabyn team for their amazing work on Annapolis Wears Hope, this is the last time we’ll bother you about it. And tomorrow, we’re drawing the big one – dinner for 8 in your house catered by Ken’s Creative Kitchen, wine from Mills, and a 3-piece jazz trio. So get into Wrabyn and get your chances while you shop or grab chances online.

ℹ️ Wrabyn is a fantastic women’s clothing boutique located at 12 Annapolis Street in idyllic West Annapolis.
