This just in: Annapolis releases annual report 📄
Anyone who’s ever given up a new year’s resolution before (we would never!) knows how tough it can be to stick to an annual goal. Sometimes you get more done than you expected, sometimes less. But in the latest annual report from the City of Annapolis, there are a few big achievements worth highlighting for 2024. Some of those key initiatives include:
🌊 Investments in City Dock flood mitigation
🛶 Plans for public water access at Elktonia-Carr’s Heritage Park
🏘 A revitalization of public housing through the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative
🛝 Expansion of park facilities and recreation programs
🚓 High standards for police and fire departments
So, what’s next for Annapolis? Looking forward, Mayor Buckley says he remains committed to ensuring the city is resilient, equitable, and sustainable. Read the full report for details.

New Puppy? Here’s what you need to know. . .
Getting a new puppy is exciting. But with great cuteness comes great responsibility. First, contact your vet to review essential vaccines and schedule your first visit. Don’t have a vet? Try Western Shore Veterinary Hospital. Already have a vet? Try them anyway.
Second, find the right food. Something your puppy enjoys, doesn’t upset their tummy, and is easy to get.
And finally, plan for training early. Behavioral issues are one of the main reasons dogs end up in shelters, so building a foundation for good habits now is key.
Still intimidated? Western Shore Veterinary Hospital is happy to guide new puppy owners on their exciting journey.

CIVIL NEWS
Curious about Annapolis’ City Dock plans?
You’re in luck. There’s a joint public work session tomorrow with Annapolis’ Planning and Historic Preservation Commissions. They’ll discuss the proposed new Harbormaster Headquarters (AKA Maritime Welcome Center). If you want to see the site plan, watch the project evolve, and hear the latest revisions, head to the City Council Chambers at City Hall at 7 PM tomorrow (10/3) or watch online.
Who’s running for the Anne Arundel County School Board? 🍎
Our school board plays a big role in education. They set policy, choose the school superintendent, and approve the district budget. The eight-member board includes seven members elected by their district and a student-elected member. The only student member in the whole country with full voting rights btw. But we digress. . . With election day around the corner, there’s no better time to ask: who’s running and what’s important to them? The Baltimore Banner took a look, sharing experience, endorsements, education, and personal backgrounds. Some candidates even answered a questionnaire, noting their top 3 priorities for the school system, why voters should elect them, and much more. ($)
