Last chance to comment: Public Water Access 📣

Don’t miss your chance to give input on the county’s Public Water Access Plan. Public comment is open through the end of August, and it’s open to anyone, whether you’re a resident, business owner, or other stakeholder. This is Anne Arundel County’s plan to make the local waterways more accessible to everyone, and your opinion matters. Read the plan and submit your comment.

A “supercharged” hurricane season? 🌧

Not the kind of news we want to hear to start off a Monday, but September could be a little stormier than usual. Forecasters are predicting a “Supercharged September” for the East Coast, meaning this hurricane season (which statistically peaks on Sept. 10) could be pretty active. There’s the potential for a “parade” of storms or even multiple storms happening in the Atlantic at the same time.

But let’s not go into panic mode. Remember that this is just a forecast — and it means we all have a bit of time to prepare. The Anne Arundel County Office of Emergency Management recommends taking steps ahead of time like:

☑️ Have an emergency kit with enough supplies to last two weeks
☑️ Create a family evacuation plan — where you’ll go and how you’ll get there
☑️ Make a plan to secure your property
☑️ Trim any trees or bushes so they’re wind resistant

New Ward One hearing date 🗓️

We recently shared how Ward One Alderwoman Eleanor “Elly” Tierney is retiring and relocating with her family to Cape Cod in September. The Annapolis Democratic Central Committee (ADCC) has set a new hearing date of September 3 at 7 PM to interview candidates for the remainder of her Ward One City Council term that expires in December 2025. So far, five candidates have thrown their hat into the ring. The hearing will be open to the public, and the ADCC will post a link to attend virtually on their website soon.

Bye Bye Summer 👋

As the summer ends and you & your kids are getting back into the swing of the school year, it’s time to take on those projects you’ve been putting off this summer. One thing you may have put off? Their first trip to the orthodontist!

Did you know that kids should have their first orthodontic evaluation at age 7? Though many children don’t need early treatment, there are a handful of orthodontic issues that can be fixed simply at a young age by early, limited treatment. And if your child doesn’t need early treatment, at Annapolis Orthodontics we offer a complimentary supervision program to make sure adult teeth are coming in where and when they should.

We have spots available this upcoming Fall, so if you’ve been putting off a First Look for your child, we’ve got you covered. Click to schedule an appointment at Annapolis Orthodontics today!
