Lights on the Bay, Movers and Shakers, holiday pop-up...

Good morning, Annapolis. I was today years old when I learned the Eastport Yacht Club burgee is a picture of the Spa Creek bridge.

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Lights on the Bay

  • Movers and Shakers

  • Holiday pop-up

Let’s get to it.

P.S. Happy birthday to Connor Sneddon and Carolyn! 🎂

Goin’ to the Ship ⚽️

Friendly reminder to local soccer fans that state championship games are this Saturday (11/18). South River’s boys play Towson High at 5 PM. The Severna Park girls battle Mount Hebron at 7:30 PM in hopes of capping a perfect season like the ‘72 Miami Dolphins. Both games take place at Loyola University’s Ridley Athletic Complex. Tickets are on sale now and are only sold online. Best of luck to the Seahawks and Falcons!

LOCAL BUSINESS

Holiday pop-up at HERE.

HERE just closed its fall pop-up on Monday. But Santa must have 15 over-caffeinated elves in there because it’s already popping up again tomorrow (11/17). This time, everything is holiday-themed through December 22. Special events include permanent jewelry (11/26), a cookie class (12/9), yoga (12/11), and more. Open daily 10 AM–6 PM at 4 Church Circle, Annapolis, MD 21401.

P.S. Naptown Scoop merch is still at the pop-up! It’s actually the only place to snag Scoop hats, shirts, and our exclusive Smith & Quinn quarter zips.

Ice rink opening at Quiet Waters Park ⛸️

Let’s see that axel, lutz, salchow, and twizzle! Those are figure skating moves, by the way, and you can practice them at the Quiet Waters Park Ice Rink — just watch out for speeding middle schoolers. The rink opens tomorrow (11/17) in front of the Visitors Centers. Hours will be Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 3–9 PM and Saturdays/Sundays 9 AM–9 PM. Make sure to check here for daily updates.

How it works: Park admission fees still apply and skating is $7/adults and $6/kids under 12. You can rent skates for $3 and you get 2 hours to skate. This year, Capital SUP is hosting the CapCafé, complete with warm drinks and treats.
