Maryland’s Seafood App Launches 🦀 🦪

Get your claws on Maryland’s Best Seafood, Eat Food pass! Launched last week by The Maryland Department of Agriculture with Bandwango, the pass encourages residents and visitors to explore Maryland’s diverse seafood offerings, earn rewards, and support local jobs. Some participating restaurants offer exclusive specials for passholders. Sign up for free. There’s no app to download, your pass comes directly to your email and phone. Click on “Learn More” for all participating restaurants, but some Annapolis faves on the list are Leo, Preserve, and Pearl.

The pass lets users check into restaurants and seafood events, earning points for prizes like a “Seafood, Eat Food” cutlery set and water bottles to t-shirts emblazoned with “Shuck Yeah, I ate Maryland Seafood.” So, get eating your way through town with blue crabs, oysters, wild Chesapeake blue catfish, and much more. Yum! 😋

A MESSAGE FROM ST. ANNE’S SCHOOL OF ANNAPOLIS

Growing Minds, Hearts, and Gardens!

At St. Anne’s School, we know growing the heart is just as important as growing the mind, which is why service learning is a cornerstone of our curriculum. Pictured above is a snapshot from last spring’s Day of Service, when St. Anne’s School partnered with Superior Future, an Alumni founded organization, for community improvement projects in the local Newtowne development. Students, faculty, and parents linked arms with members of the Newtowne community to not only form a meaningful connection, but to also make a big impact within the development by building a community garden. As Head of School Connie Coker noted, the Day of Service was "a good reminder that education is long-game and mostly takes place outside the classroom." Mrs. Coker also noted that here at St. Anne's School, we believe in "preparing students for, while also actively living, a life of community service and purpose."

Beyond the Day of Service, St. Anne’s School students participate in service initiatives year-round. Last year’s initiatives included local needs drives, delivering lunches, fundraising, writing notecards, preparing care packages, painting kindness rocks, oyster farming, and removing both trash and invasive species of plants from Quiet Waters Park...to name a few. While participating in these initiatives outside the classroom, inside the classroom students learn how to advocate for the issues they believe in, educate others on ways in which they can help, and take pride in seeing how their efforts make an impact in their communities.

To learn more about how St. Anne’s School grows both the heart and the mind, come visit us!

One month to go: Baygrass Festival

What does “Every jam saves the bay” mean? This slogan for the upcoming Baygrass Music Festival (September 21–22) means that coming out to hear some great live music is a fun and effective way of supporting local conservation and environmental stewardship. That’s because this event is more than just a music festival — it also has workshops, info booths, bay-focused art + photography, and food and beverages to let you “taste the bay.” It all takes place at Sandy Point State Park 11:30 AM–10 PM both days.

🎸 But we did say music fest: Yes, the day is about celebrating and protecting the bay, but what would a music festival be without the music? Here’s who’s on the schedule: Oteil & Friends, Leftover Salmon, Trouble No More, Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, The Lil Smokies, Geraldine, The Infamous Stringdusters, Kitchen Dwellers, Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, Cris Jacobs & Friends, Brown Eyed Women, Big Richard, the Dirty Grass Players, Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman, and Ron Holloway.

Together in Teal Walk on Sept. 22 👟

The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition invites you to join in walking for a better future. The Together in Teal Walk is set for September 22 at Westfield Annapolis Mall, starting at 8:30 AM. There’s no distance or pace you need to maintain — the idea is to honor survivors, celebrate the memories of loved ones lost, and raise critical awareness. Register and start fundraising.
