THE DIGEST

Bill 92-24: Paper bag fee removal? 🛒 🛍️

Bill 92-24, heard by the Anne Arundel County Council yesterday, proposes removing the 10-cent fee on paper bags and penalties for businesses not collecting it. Yet, businesses could continue collecting the fee. The fee, introduced alongside the plastic bag ban on January 1, aims to reduce waste. Supporters say it unfairly burdens seniors using grocery delivery, while opponents warn it could lead to increased paper bag use, harming the environment. Have something to say about it? Submit testimony online by 11 AM Monday on the county’s website. ($)
