Letâs get EYC Lights Parade the recognition it deserves đ¤
If youâve ever watched the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade, you know that itâs a festive, impressive fete of illumination (on the water, no less!). We think thatâs why it earned its No. 4 spot on USA Todayâs list of Best Holiday Parades across the country last year â which is pretty impressive for a small community like Eastport to outrank some of these big city parades!
We think we can get the Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade to the No. 1 spot though. Itâll take a lot of votes, but thereâs nothing Annapolis canât do. Be sure to vote in the Readersâ Choice 2024 poll and pass it along to your friends.
P.S. Fete isnât a typo for feat. Itâs a French-origin word meaning celebration or festival. As to how itâs pronounced, some say fate, some say fet.

Hall of Fame Induction: Bill Belichick đ
Legendary NFL coach and 1969 Annapolis High starting center Bill Belichick needs no introduction. But The Capitalâs and Anchors Aweigh host Bill Wagner gave him a stellar one in this story about Belichickâs induction into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame. Here are three fun facts about the Annapolis native.
For 32 years, Belichick couldnât attend the fall induction banquet due to coaching commitments.
His father, Steve Belichick, was Navy footballâs longest-tenured assistant coach from 1956-1989.
Belichick loves Annapolis so much that he recently bought a home in Eastport! ($)
