TGAPSCC punch cards explained, tons of Thursday night fun...
TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. Quick correction. That super cool backyard Carsie Blanton concert we wrote about yesterday is tonight, not Friday. Sorry, must have been distracted by the Roman Empire during editing.
In todayâs Naptown Scoop:
Navy sports in a government shutdown
Tons of Thursday night fun
TGAPSCC punch cards explained
Letâs get to it.

TGAPSCC Punch Cards Explained
If you frequent local coffee shops, you may have noticed something new at the counter yesterday.
âWhoâs that handsome little coffee cup and whatâs The Great Annapolis Pumpkin Spice Coffee Crawl?â
First, thatâs Caffy. Like Cathy. But caffeinated.
Second, The Great Annapolis Pumpkin Spice Coffee Crawl is an epic mission. Visit one of 11 (and counting) participating local coffee shops. Ask for a punch card. Then get it punched each time you visit.
Nine punches. Nine different coffee shops. Nine different fall drinks. But you can visit your old standby 9 times, get your boring old black coffee 9 times, and still get 9 punches. Still better than Starbucks.
Hey, every story needs a villain đ¤ˇ
Once your cardâs complete, you get a free Drink Local or Die Trying shirt. But only the first 25 cards get the shirt for free.
If you donât drink 9 coffees per day like the first guy who finished yesterday (just 6 hours after we launched), every card after #25 gets 25% off in the TGAPSCC store.
Proceeds support the Rising Tide Society and Annapolis Hope. More on that tomorrow.
For now, visit annapolis.coffee to participate in the crawl. You stay caffeinated, Annapolis.
SPONSORED BY ANNAPOLIS BOAT SHOWS
The most exciting weekend of the year⌠âľ
When you think of Annapolis, you think of the water. At least I do. Our Chesapeake Bay would not be the same without boats. Neither would Annapolis. So we should celebrate them!
The good news is. . . we do! The Annapolis Powerboat Show is coming up October 5 to 8 at City Dock in beautiful, downtown Annapolis. Whether you're a lifelong boater, wishful wannabe, or hardcore angler, you'll want to head downtown for this.
Here's a taste of what's on tap:
New and premiering boats
Return of Brokerage Cove for all your pre-owned boat needs
Reef ball making and fishing seminars
Test drives on the latest models for all those serious buyers!
Soak in the boating lifestyle, catch up with old friends, and make new ones as you walk the docks.
We have a newcomer on the leaderboard! The Club put up a solid debut. But just like the Masters leaderboard on Friday morning (which ours may or may not be modeled after), anything can happen.
THE DIGEST
Superintendent of the Year đ
Yesterday, Scoop told you how AACPS superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell isnât interested in running for State superintendent of schools. Just a few hours later, AACPS announced that he earned the Joseph E. Hill Superintendent of the Year award from the National Alliance of Black Educators.
No wonder people want him for the top job. . . . Congrats, Dr. Bedell!
đ§ We interviewed the supe on the Naptown Scoop Show shortly after his first day last year and itâs Scoop publisher Ryanâs favorite episode ever. Check it out on Apple podcasts or Spotify.
Navy sports wonât take a timeout in shutdown
Impending government shutdown? No problem. At least not for sports at the Naval Academy. The Academyâs athletic organization is a private organization and doesnât run on federal funding. That means itâs free to keep running (or throwing, hitting, or kicking) if thereâs a government shutdown Come Monday.
The same goes for the Air Force Academy, who Navy faces on October 21. Game on, Falcons. ($)
And speaking of Navy sports. . .

A MESSAGE FROM ANNE ARUNDEL UROLOGY
The worst pain of allâŚ
11% of men and 7% of women experience kidney stones at some point in their lifetime. These tiny rocks can cause tremendous pain. Some compare it to that of giving birth; others to that of breaking a bone. If you are unlucky enough to have kidney stones â AAUrology can help you!
We have experts in kidney stones that can facilitate a quick diagnosis and treatment at one of our outpatient surgery centers, often on the same day. We will then work with you on prevention of the stones moving forward to avoid those tedious emergency room visits. Whether itâs through prevention, shockwave lithotripsy or ureteroscopy, AAUrology can make the pain go away.
