TGAPSCC Punch Cards Explained

If you frequent local coffee shops, you may have noticed something new at the counter yesterday.

“Who’s that handsome little coffee cup and what’s The Great Annapolis Pumpkin Spice Coffee Crawl?”

First, that’s Caffy. Like Cathy. But caffeinated.

Second, The Great Annapolis Pumpkin Spice Coffee Crawl is an epic mission. Visit one of 11 (and counting) participating local coffee shops. Ask for a punch card. Then get it punched each time you visit.

Nine punches. Nine different coffee shops. Nine different fall drinks. But you can visit your old standby 9 times, get your boring old black coffee 9 times, and still get 9 punches. Still better than Starbucks.

Hey, every story needs a villain 🤷

Once your card’s complete, you get a free Drink Local or Die Trying shirt. But only the first 25 cards get the shirt for free.

If you don’t drink 9 coffees per day like the first guy who finished yesterday (just 6 hours after we launched), every card after #25 gets 25% off in the TGAPSCC store.

The most exciting weekend of the year… ⛵

When you think of Annapolis, you think of the water. At least I do. Our Chesapeake Bay would not be the same without boats. Neither would Annapolis. So we should celebrate them!

The good news is. . . we do! The Annapolis Powerboat Show is coming up October 5 to 8 at City Dock in beautiful, downtown Annapolis. Whether you're a lifelong boater, wishful wannabe, or hardcore angler, you'll want to head downtown for this.

Superintendent of the Year 🏆

Yesterday, Scoop told you how AACPS superintendent Dr. Mark Bedell isn’t interested in running for State superintendent of schools. Just a few hours later, AACPS announced that he earned the Joseph E. Hill Superintendent of the Year award from the National Alliance of Black Educators.

No wonder people want him for the top job. . . . Congrats, Dr. Bedell!

Navy sports won’t take a timeout in shutdown

Impending government shutdown? No problem. At least not for sports at the Naval Academy. The Academy’s athletic organization is a private organization and doesn’t run on federal funding. That means it’s free to keep running (or throwing, hitting, or kicking) if there’s a government shutdown Come Monday.

The same goes for the Air Force Academy, who Navy faces on October 21. Game on, Falcons. ($)

Final September Sunsets concert

Since September is coming to a close and sweater weather is here, tonight (9/28) is the last of Maritime Museum & Park’s concert of the season.
