Superyacht sinks at mouth of West River 🛥️
Boaters in the area may have seen a strange sight over the weekend. Lovebug, a 37-meter superyacht regularly docked in Annapolis during the summer, partially sank on Saturday at the mouth of the West River. Authorities responded to their call for help at 12:30 PM. All five people onboard were rescued and did not need medical attention. Reports indicate that the vessel started taking on water so the captain steered towards shallow water to mitigate the dangerous situation. According to BOAT International, the superyacht sold most recently in 2021 for $7,995,000.

Meet Claudia Roll, Animal Care & Control administrator 🐈
Today’s the first day on the job for Claudia Roll, the newly hired administrator for the county’s Animal Care & Control. With 30 years in animal welfare, education, and management, she comes to Anne Arundel from her most recent position in D.C., where she was chief of staff for the Humane Rescue Alliance. County Executive Steuart Pittman describes Roll as a leader who can turn the agency “into a restructured, mission-driven quasi-government nonprofit that puts the welfare of animals at the top of its agenda.”

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’
Premier League soccer this week ⚽
Whistle! Whistle! This is not a drill. You only have two days left to get your tickets to one of the biggest sporting events coming to Annapolis this year.
The Premier League is sending some of its best and brightest soccer stars to the US to play three games on a tour called the Stateside Cup. And we landed one of them at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium this Wednesday, July 31 at 8 PM.
Is it because they heard Annapolis is a sailing town with a soccer problem? Maybe. But we know there are at least 11,171 soccer fans here, because that’s how many of you packed the stadium for the Blues home opener this year! So get your tix and become one of the 4 billion Premier League fans worldwide!
