THE DIGEST

A new part of the new City Dock

There have been no official details announced, and so there’s very little to report on at the moment. However, we’ve been hearing rumors about a 360-foot dock extending from City Dock, with a 200-foot T-dock capable of accommodating superyachts. And now, the City Council has announced a meeting to discuss what is being called the “Dock Expansion Proposal.” If you’re curious about the evolution of Annapolis Harbor, be sure to attend on July 24 at 3 PM, or watch on either the City Council’s YouTube channel or Facebook live. Or just watch for a summary from us shortly after.

Update: Greystar building 175-unit adult community at Annapolis Town Center

It’s not every day we see a tower crane operating in Annapolis. The new apartment complex at Annapolis Town Center (across from J. Alexander’s) has a big one, though, and we’ve all been a bit curious. A little while back, we (and all other local media outlets) reported it was an Everleigh-branded Greystar 55+ community. Turns out we shouldn’t have been so sure.

Greystar just put out a press release confirming their plans for the site but not designating which of their three adult living brands it’ll be. They’ve got three – Everleigh, Album, and Overture. They’ve all got different price points. Everleigh and Overture are “up-market” while Album is “mid-market.” So knowing Annapolis, we’re betting on the former unless Greystar’s inventing something completely new.

Leasing is expected to start this Spring with move-ins next fall. The complex will offer one, two, and three-bedroom units with a library, pet spa, pool, and more.

CIVIL NEWS

Eating Disorder Facility in Anne Arundel Faces Hurdles

Anne Arundel County residents battling eating disorders are often referred to Sheppard Pratt psychiatric hospital in Towson or The Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders in Baltimore and Bethesda. No such inpatient facility exists near home. That could change soon. A new bill would define “eating disorder treatment facility” in local zoning code, clearing up legal uncertainty for a potential inpatient center in Millersville. Introduced by Councilmember Lisa Rodvien, the bill aims to give the prospective owners clarity and protection. Advocates say closer access could make treatment more approachable. The first hearing is set for September 2, and if passed, the bill would take effect 45 days later. ($)
