A message from Current Dermatology

The Future of Acne Treatment is Here in Annapolis

Current Dermatology is so excited to announce that we are the area’s first and only board-certified dermatologists to now offer AviClear – a revolutionary, FDA-cleared laser treatment for mild to severe acne. AviClear delivers effective and permanent results similar to Accutane, but with:

  • No drugs

  • No chemicals

  • No harsh side effects

In only three 30-minute, no-downtime treatments you can get clear skin. For good! If you have been struggling with acne and are frustrated with or have exhausted the traditional treatment approaches, this treatment is for you! You deserve to get rid of your (or your child’s) acne safely and permanently!

In celebration of Acne Awareness Month in June, we will be offering 15% off treatment when the first treatment is performed May 15, 2023–June 30, 2023. There’s no better time than now to invest in permanently clear skin!

Quick Hits

Why did the Midshipman cross the road? (🚗 traffic alert)

Because it was Sea Trials – AKA 14 hours of punishing physical and mental challenges that would send any regular college kid running for the hills. If you drive in these areas. . .

Route 450 northbound and southbound around the Naval Academy Bridge, Baltimore Annapolis Blvd, Greenbury Point Rd, St. Margaret’s Rd, and inside of Naval Station Annapolis. . .

Then you'll want to plan ahead. 1,000 mids will be running from Greenbury Point to the Yard Tuesday between 10 AM–1 PM and you’ll experience temporary road closures.

Local Business

Let’s go to Miller’s

Miller’s Ale House opens at Annapolis Mall today in the old Macaroni Grill spot. We will of course be trying it as soon as possible to let you know how it is. In the meantime, you can view the menu online. Here’s the elevator pitch: Miller’s is a sports-themed casual dining restaurant with over 100 locations nationwide. They are famous for their chicken Zingers® (chicken tenders with 17 sauce options) and can have over 35 beers on tap. 178 Jennifer Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Another new restaurant coming near the Mall

I’m going to list three things. Guess the restaurant. Checkers. Rocking chairs. Tiny bottles of syrup. If you guessed Cracker Barrel, you’re genius. If not, you’re just plain “eg-no-ra-moose.” America’s road trip favorite is coming to the old Fuddruckers spot on Jennifer Road. When? John from Eye on Annapolis says “late 2024.” Btw, here’s how to win the famous peg game according to Cracker Barrel’s very own blog.

What’s Happenin’

Bike to Work Week 🚴

If it’s safe for you, consider breaking out the ‘ole Schwinn for your commute this week. It’s Bike to Work Week in Anne Arundel County and as a former single-speed bike commuter, I love to see it. There will be a bike to work pit stop at Susan Campbell Park on Thursday from 7–9 AM. Note to all the WFHers: We are not liable for any injuries that may occur from biking down your stairs to get to the home office.

Herndon Climb

This Wednesday, first-year students at the Naval Academy will no longer be called plebes. What time Wednesday? That’s up to them. To shed the nickname, they have to climb the 21-foot Herndon Monument, knock off a dixie cup (plebe hat), and replace it with a cover (upperclassmen’s hat). Simple enough, right? Just two problems.

Pesky seniors will chuck 50 pounds of vegetable shortening all over it before the climb and they’ll spray hoses nonstop as the plebes try to climb. It’s a great tradition that is open to the public. The climb starts at 8 AM Wednesday in front of the chapel; enter through Gate 1. Last year the Class of 2025 took 3 hours, and 36 minutes to do the deed so you may want to make flexible lunch plans.

The Great Curious Cocktail Party

It’s tough out there for people who don’t drink. But not this Thursday. As part of a nationwide movement, Bread & Butter Kitchen is hosting the Great Curious Cocktail Party. Booze-free cocktails will be the star of the show, but Bread & Butter’s delicious food and Daphne Eckman’s intoxicating music will give them a run for their money. It’s gonna be a beautiful night Thursday. Come party on the water with Bread & Butter Kitchen from 6–9 PM. Not included: Hangovers, bad decisions, or shockingly high bar tabs.

Boston University put an end to Navy women’s rowing dominance last season. The team had won six titles in a row. But like many little dogs, the BU Terriers’ mouth wrote a check their oars couldn’t cash. Navy women’s rowing took back the Patriot League Title (their 9th overall) with some thrilling races against BU this weekend.
