Boat Show: Stuff you can buy – beyond boats 🌊 🛍️

The Annapolis Sailboat Show is on the horizon and coming to town October 10–14. Boats usually steal the show. Yet, they’re just the tip of the iceberg (or crest of the wave, if you will).

From cutting-edge gear to unexpected treasures, we've got the scoop on what’s for sail (yep, we said it) beyond boats. We’ll reveal one unique item you’ll never guess and go deep on some boating brands. Dive into this year’s must-see buys in our Journal article!

Serene Estate in sought-after Harbor Hills

Escape to tranquility at this stunning ranch-style home in the coveted Harbor Hills Community. It features 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, 2 half baths and high ceilings paired with sweeping water views. It’s the perfect blend of luxury and comfort.

The heart of the home is a chef’s kitchen with granite countertops, dual islands, and commercial-grade appliances. The spacious primary suite includes two custom closets and a luxurious ensuite bath.

Outside, the expansive rear deck is perfect for entertaining or relaxing by the water. The attached three-car garage has room for daily drivers and something fun. And the detached RV garage provides ample space for serious hobbies.

Harbor Hills offers a vibrant social scene with amenities like a community marina, pool, tennis courts, and more. All just minutes from Annapolis and a short-drive to DC.

THE DIGEST

Purple Light Nights 💜

Starting in late September, sheriffs in Charles, Prince George’s, and Anne Arundel counties will host “Purple Light Nights” events for National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Prominent buildings will be illuminated in purple lights throughout October, symbolizing a commitment to combat domestic violence and a call for community solidarity. The three-night initiative features public ceremonies where survivors, advocates, and law enforcement will speak. The Annapolis event is on September 30 at Lawyers Mall. Learn more.

Own a piece of Pusser's 🖼️

Last week’s story about Pusser’s clearly struck a chord. Lots of you perused and some of you already scooped up some memorabilia from the Caribbean grill that closes this fall after 30 years on the Annapolis Harbor. There’s still some time to claim the remaining items of historic photos, banquette seating, model ships, and more. But hurry—shoppers are snapping up items faster than a free round of Painkillers.🍹

Higher learning gets high marks in Annapolis 📝

The U.S. News & World Report released its list of 2025 Best Colleges across the country yesterday, and 23 schools from Maryland made the cut. Most notable for us here in Annapolis: Both the Johnnies and the Mids were included. The U.S. Naval Academy came in 4th and St. John’s College tied for 83rd among the National Liberal Arts Colleges category.

And even though it’s a little bit out of our coverage area, we know there are a lot of Naptown Terps out there, so FYI — UMD College Park tied for 44th on the list among national universities. 🐢

WHAT’S HAPPENIN’

Tacos & Tequila Fest x I Love the 90s Tour 🌮

Taco ‘bout a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon and evening: the Tacos & Tequila Fest has been touring across the country and is coming to Maryland on October 5 at the Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie (where the Baysox play).

As if tacos and tequila isn’t tempting enough, let’s talk about the music. This fest features the I Love the 90s Tour, where you can catch Vanilla Ice, Treach of Naughty by Nature, Rob Base, Kid N Play, All 4 One, Tone Loc, Color Me Badd, and Young MC!

So if you’re ready to guac out with some great throwback hits, a full Tequila Tastery, food trucks, local vendors, and other great activities, be sure to order tickets early.

Get your party on at AND Creative 🪩

Do you ever just feel like dancing? 💃 Well, you’re in luck. The first Outside dance party happens next Friday (10/4) from 8 PM to midnight at AND Creative (1851 McGuckian St., Suite B, Annapolis). Organizers describe it as “a dance party with house party vibes.”

The idea is to recreate the underground dance culture that coordinator and DJ David Richardson misses about the West Coast, where he hails from. So, what to expect? Outside is a celebration of community and inclusivity, with a strong focus on LGBTQ+ friendliness. Attendees can expect an eclectic mix of hip-hop, house, club, and techno sounds from DJ Face and davOmakesbeats. Get tickets.

Art @ the Park

Here’s what we love about Art @ the Park — this is an arts festival that celebrates ALL kinds of art. Plus it’s a family-friendly event, which probably explains why it’s been a local tradition for more than 30 years. Stop by Quiet Waters Park the weekend of October 12–13 for live music, visual arts displays, food, demonstrations, and so much more. The festival runs 10 AM–4 PM both days, and pets are welcome.

Who’s on the schedule for live performances this year?

On Saturday…

🎶 11 AM–noon: David Keplinger
🎶 1–2 PM: Danah Denic
🎶 2:30–3:30 PM: Sam Cook

On Sunday…

🎶 11 AM–noon: Guava Jelly
🎶 1–2 PM: Jesse Powers Band
🎶 2:30–3:30 PM: Dan Haas
