Local By Design Turns 10, Ignite Annapolis Returns, Candlelight Concerts...
TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. I saw a group of crows having what looked like a serious staff meeting in my neighborhood yesterday. Lots of squawking. One took notes. No clue what theyāre planning, but Iām staying indoors just in case.
In todayās Naptown Scoop:
Local By Design Turns 10
Ignite Annapolis Returns

Letās get to it.

THE DIGEST
Correction: Carpaccio/Cavalli Annapolis š
Last week, we made a mistake . . . When sharing the news of Viviās Chicken nā Macās growing business, we said that Viviās owners Michele and Gennaro DiMeo owned Carpaccio. But thatās not the case ā and we donāt want to be chicken about admitting it. The DiMeos cooked up Carpaccio and Tuscan Prime (now Cavalli) but donāt own either anymore. Speaking of Cavalli. . .
The new Annapolis Town Center restaurant was born from a dynamic partnership among several respected local hospitality names. Brian Hovermale and Lino DiMeo (the current Carpaccio owners) partnered with Ivano Scotto (Limoncello, Amalfi Coast), Arturo Ottaviano (Osteria 177), and Jamie Kujawski (Yellowfin) to introduce a new elevated dining experience. Hungry? Book a table at Cavalli. Theyād love to know what you think.

Western Shore Veterinary Hospital offers your pets the finest wellness care, state-of-the-art diagnostics, dental treatment, and surgery ranging from spays/neuters to sophisticated treatments. You can find them online, by phone at 443-936-0660, or at 910C Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Dog of the Week: Meet Lily Bug š¾

Why does a nickname make us feel like Lily Bug is already ours? Maybe itās because one ear is listening intently while the other waves hello. Either way, we want this four-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. Itās easy to see why the SPCA volunteers adore Lily Bug. She loves cuddles and walks (and behaves well on her leash). Ideally, Lily Bug would be the only dog at home. Sharing is her weakness ā she guards her food and toys. In her defense, no one likes a mooch. Apply to meet her!
Lily Bug has been with the SPCA since November 2022 and she would love not to spend another Thanksgiving at the shelter.
Ignite Annapolis returns this October
Ready to get inspired? Ignite Annapolis, a motivating evening of short talks from local movers and shakers, is returning after a multi-year hiatus. Itās like TED, but for Annapolis. For their sixth iteration, Ignite will welcome 15 community leaders to share their passion in five minutes and 20 photo slides. Weāll see you there. October 21 at Maryland Hall.
Fired up about something and ready to share? Speaker applications are open through July 15.

LOCAL BUSINESS
Local By Design Turns 10!
Considering the fact that we buy all our gifts at Local By Design, weāre in a bit of a conundrum as to what to get the store who already has everything. So maybe weāll just end up shopping for ourselves at their tenth anniversary event this weekend at the flagship location on Margaret Avenue in the Design District. With live music, guest vendors, food, cocktails, and so much more, this is a great event celebrating a fantastic shop we hope will be around for at least another 10. June 27ā29, 1818 Margaret Ave.

WHATāS HAPPENINā
Tix on sale: Taste of Arundel Grown š½
Summer is a great time to eat local, and if youāre craving everything local farmers and watermen have to offer, get your tickets for A Taste of Arundel Grown, set for August 6 at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville. This signature event put on by Arundel Ag serves a variety of food, beer, and wine thatās been grown, raised, or produced in Anne Arundel County ā and it pays it forward by fundraising for the Agricultural Business Improvement Grant Fund. Tickets are available now.
Schooner Woodwind celebrates 20th anniversary of Wedding Crashers with themed cruises

Of all the movies filmed around Annapolis, Wedding Crashers is definitely our favorite. The schooner used in the film is owned by local sailor Captain Jen Kaye. Itās one of two that can be seen sailing around Annapolis daily ā Woodwind and Woodwind II. And to celebrate the filmās 20th anniversary (this makes me feel old), Capt. Jen will share some tales from shooting, showcase locations from the movie, give insight into some scenes that were left on the cutting room floor. The cruises are July 13 and 14.
You can enjoy just the cruise, or upgrade to the crabcake brunch package (our recommendation). Because remember wedding crasher rule #63: always leave room for cake.
P.S. Thereās another boat often seen in Annapolis with ties to the silver screen. M3, the 147-foot superyacht most-often docked at Annapolis Yacht Basin, played the role of Jordan Belfortās yacht Naomi in The Wolf of Wall Street. Back then it was known as Lady M. Whatās the cost for the superyacht life? Charters start at $145,000 per week. But with fuel, food, and gratuity, youāre likely looking at a $200K+ week.

š¶ July 16: Tribute to Queen and the Beatles

š¶ Aug. 16: The Best of Hans Zimmer
š¶ Oct. 30: Halloween Classics
