🍦 No Scoops on Thursday or Friday.

🏛️ City and County offices are closed on Thursday and Friday. The Pip Moyer and Stanton Centers are closed on Thursday. Stanton remains closed Friday but Pip reopens.

🚌 City transit won’t run Thursday.

🗑️ City and County trash play musical chairs: Thursday collections move to Friday. Friday collections move to Saturday.

🎁 Holiday parking starts: Downtown meter spaces are free for two hours between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. The first hour at the Hillman Garage will also be free. Use the code ParkDTA on ParkMobile to access the discounts.

Turkey Trots 🦃 🦃

Is your family one of those that likes to run 5Ks on holidays? If so. . . blink twice if you need help. Then check out these options for your family-endorsed suffering.

• AACC Turkey Trot: Wednesday (11/22) at 12:30 PM. 5K and 1 mile courses through AACC’s campus. Proceeds benefit the college’s kinesiology scholarship funds and fitness center. Register here.

• Y Turkey Trot: Thursday (11/23) at 8:30 AM. Costumes are welcome. Proceeds benefit the Y. Register here.

• Fleet Feet: Thursday (11/23) at 9 AM. Best turkey costume gets a prize. Register here.

• St. Mary’s basketball 5K: Sunday (11/26) at 9:30 AM. Proceeds go toward travel and tournament costs. More details.

Library unionization shelved. . . for now

Some AACPL employees want to unionize. Yesterday, AACPL’s board of trustees rejected their proposal. But that doesn’t mean the union chapter is closed. The board said it respects the desire to organize, but is following legal advice that it cannot accept petitions recognizing unions without state-level legislation. The employees disagree, citing other Maryland librarians who have unionized without legislation. County Executive Steuart Pittman said he’ll support legislation granting the workers bargaining rights if needed. ($)

If you need proof the holidays are here, this should do it. Ring in the season with Annapolis’ annual tree lighting and celebration this Sunday (11/26). The fun starts at Market House at 4 PM with dancing and caroling, hot cocoa, and crafts. Santa, Mrs. Claus, and Elfie arrive in true Annapolis fashion (by boat) to light the tree shortly after dark. Sunset is at 4:46 PM on Sunday.
