TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. This is Naptown Scoop, the newsletter equivalent of those funny flight attendants who make a bunch of jokes during the pre-takeoff safety speech you never listen to.
Letâs get to it.
â Lauren Burke Meyer, Dylan Roche, & Ryan Sneddon
P.S. Good luck to our Navy Midshipmen at Olympic trials this week! Brahmir Vick is in the 110-meter hurdle semifinal and Jacques Guillaume is in the 400-meter hurdle semifinal. Sprinter Nathan Kent and javelin thrower Braden Presser also competed but have since been eliminated.

THE DIGEST
Two down, four to go
We pulled another name out of a hat last night at Wrabyn. And while that means thereâs one less prize in our Annapolis Wears Hope collaboration with Wrabyn, four excellent ones remain. Confused? Long story short: Wrabyn, a womenâs boutique in West Annapolis, is donating 10% of sales to Annapolis Hope all week long and arranged for a sweet drawing every day of the week. You can snag chances for that in-store or online.
Paca Girlfriends Party: A Sweet Success đ
Whether you were a first-timer (like Ryan and Lauren), or a 16-time veteran, Paca Girlfriends on June 12 was simply magical. The evening was colorful and light-filled, celebrating friendship and the power of women, all in support of Historic Annapolis (HA). The bubbly, delicious bites, shopping from local vendors, and socializing with over 600 supporters amongst the picturesque William Paca Garden made it a night to remember. Yet, thereâs another reason sweet 16 was extra sweet for HA, garden party host extraordinaire. It raised a record-breaking $159,000 for HA's essential programs that connect people to Annapolis, our history, and our future!

How to protect your pets during a heat wave
Nobody likes these super hot days. But we humans are great at dealing with them. Our dogs? Not so much. Here are three easy things you can do to keep them safe.
Provide cool fresh drinking water all day long
Donât walk them during the hottest part of the day. Early mornings and evenings are great for walking!
Limit strenuous activities like ball play
Signs of heat stroke include heavy breathing that doesnât slow even when in the AC, severe lethargy, and sticky gums.
If they do get heat stroke, cool them down with fans and cool damp blankets and call a vet like Western Shore Veterinary Hospital immediately.

WHATâS HAPPENINâ
19th Annual Boatyard Beach Bash tickets now available đš đś
Whenever Boatyard Bar & Grill is involved in a party, we assume great things. The 19th annual Boatyard Beach Bash is the perfect way to get in a Key West state of mind at the Annapolis Maritime Museum (AMM). Grab your tickets for the September 21 event which includes an open bar and delicious meal. Much like Bands in the Sand, this yearâs party is in memory of Jimmy Buffett. And youâll hear many of his songs throughout the night.
Funds raised go toward AMMâs educating children and adults on our area's rich maritime heritage and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. The Education Center provides 15K+ hours of hands-on educational programs every year.
Party it up at Rhythm & Hues
Hereâs another reason to love June: Itâs Black Music Month, and the Banneker-Douglass Museum is celebrating with a summer block party, Rhythm & Hues. Stop by any time Saturday between 10 AM and 4 PM to enjoy performances by Black Alley, Lauren White, KaribFit, and DJ Kevin Coombe. Plus there will be vendors, food, yoga, community resources, and much more. RSVP online.

McMahon to don No. 68 đ
Thereâs a special tradition at Navy football: every season, the team honors late offensive lineman David Forney, who died in 2020, by selecting a senior lineman to wear his number â No. 68. And this yearâs player has just been announced: Connor McMahon, a returning starter for the Mids at offensive tackle. McMahon has played 23 consecutive games over the past two years and started 22 straight contests.
