THE DIGEST
From landfill to solar farm
This is a real life âtrash to treasureâ moment. Did you know thereâs a giant solar farm on top of an old Annapolis landfill? In 1989, a landfill off of Route 450 got too full; yeah, we donât want to know what that means either. And it just sat like that for three decades until 2018 when the City moved in 55,000 solar panels. Now, it generates 12 megawatts for the City of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County, and the Board of Education. Thatâs great news since Governor Moore hopes 14.5% of Marylandâs energy will come from the sun by 2030.

LOCAL BUSINESS
100 Lots Kitchen now open
In 1863, a tobacco port community formed from 100 one-acre lots. Now, we know it as Edgewaterâs London Town. 160 years later, those 100 lots are the namesake of Edgewaterâs newest restaurant. 100 Lots Kitchen and Bar serves âupdated Americanaâ using local ingredients whenever they can. Think Oysters Rockefeller, stroganoff lasagna, shrimp ân grits, and more. Check it out at 74 W Central Avenue, Edgewater, MD 21037 where Broadneck Grill used to be.
