TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. Welcome to the 85 new readers who joined us over the weekend. We’re happy to have you here :)
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Let’s Go Fest dates
Who won the Tug of War?
Two 10-year anniversaries
Let’s get to it.

Annapolis wins Tug of War again
It was a beautiful day for war on Saturday. Tug of war, that is. And while Eastport may have had the better party, Westport (aka Annapolis) proved stronger, winning 4 tugs to Eastport’s 2.
Did we see the Annapolis emcee illegally joining in on a couple heats? Maybe. . . But after many years of Eastport dominance, perhaps Annapolis deserves a little glory.
Long-time Eastport emcee Michael Hughes had some strong words regarding whether or not it would be the last tug because of City Dock construction. “Cover your ears kids. That is bullsh*t!”
The Tug is such a unique Annapolis tradition and one of the most fun days of the year. From the verbal jousting of cross creek emcees to the ridiculousness of a 1,600+ foot over water tug of war to the tens of thousands of dollars raised for local nonprofits, we can’t let the Tug go away.
Superstar photojournalist Ariana Perez shot the day for us in her Naptown Scoop debut. Click here to relive the day in 42 wonderful photos.

THE DIGEST
Maryland flag 🤝 Space
A little bit of AACPS is headed to space. Kelsi Reyes, a 6th grader at Bates Middle School, designed a patch that will travel to the International Space Station on SpaceX CRS-29. The mission is expected to launch this week. In 2018, a patch by Bates student Lily Barrett also went to space. Bates Middle is really shooting for the stars 🚀

Temporary Bridge closures coming 🏃
On Sunday (11/12), runners will take over the Bay Bridge for the annual Bay Bridge Run. As you can imagine (and hope for the runners), the eastbound span will be closed. Here are the details:
Eastbound lanes will be closed 12:01 AM–2 PM. Westbound lanes will operate two ways.
The eastbound off-ramp from US 50 to MD 8 will be closed. The on-ramp from MD 8 to westbound US 50 will also be closed.
Travel before 6 AM or after 6 PM to avoid it all.

LOCAL BUSINESS
A very quick review of RegionAle
There’s a new sandwich shop in town. It’s called RegionAle and the concept is simple and well executed — famous sandwiches from every part of the US paired with craft beer and draft cocktails. There’s a Philly cheesesteak, Florida Cubano, Wisconsin grilled cheese, and so much more.
This is RegionAle’s third location and first outside of Baltimore so let’s give them a warm Annapolis welcome. Between this and Full On at the Harbour Center, Annapolis has really stepped up its sandwich game. Visit RegionAle at 1901 Towne Centre Blvd #125, Annapolis, MD 21401. Click here to see a few more photos (including the food and drinks menus).
Sip & Shop (local)
Here’s your chance to get a jump start on holiday shopping. Select shops along Main Street are offering appetizers and drinks to make your browsing merrier this Wednesday. Participants include Spice & Tea Exchange, Local by Design, The Cottage on Main, Reclaimed, Capital Comics, and lots more. Wednesday (11/8) 6–9 PM.

SPONSORED BY HOSPICE OF THE CHESAPEAKE
You manage everything else, why not end of life?
In a culture that often teaches us to resist discussing illness and death, having a conversation about dying can have a profound impact. What does death mean in my life? How do I want my family involved? Having these courageous conversations can mean the difference between the type of death we hope for, and one where we don’t have a say. For nearly 45 years, Hospice of the Chesapeake has been having courageous conversations with those living with illness, helping provide comfort, allowing them to spend their final months wherever they call home, surrounded by loved ones with a focus on what matters most. Learn more about their services at www.hospicechesapeake.org.
WHAT’S HAPPENIN’
Let's Go Fest dates announced
Let’s Go Fest is the County’s biggest music festival. The first two years had an epic roster (Lynyrd Skynyrd, Goo Goo Dolls, Billy Currington. . .) so we expect even better this year. Save these dates: May 31–June 2 at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. The lineup isn’t announced but you can sign for email alerts here or just keep reading Scoop as we get the scoop.
Save this date: Moonshiner’s Ball
December 5, 1933 marked the end of Prohibition. The nation rejoiced and we’ve been partying (openly) ever since. Celebrate 90 years of boozy freedom at the Moonshiner’s Ball supporting Anne Arundel SPCA. Dress in your best Prohibition-era outfit — flapper, gangster, moonshiner, etc. — and enjoy games, raffles, live bands, and more. Adoptable pets will be the star of the show! December 3 at the Governor Calvert House. Get tickets.
🐶 Speaking of dogs. . . pre-orders for the 2024 Annapolis Dogs Calendar are now open. Sales support the SPCA. Make sure to order before December 1 to be part of the first print run.
10 years of success for 2 orgs
BikeAAA
Fun. Good for the environment. Proven by science to make you happier than any type of transit. Biking rocks and Bicycle Advocates of Annapolis and Anne Arundel has been saying so for 10 years now. Help them roll 🚲 into a new decade with a special annual meeting + anniversary dinner. Free pre-registration is required. Tuesday (11/7) at Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge.
Wrabyn Boutique Think of the difference between a 1-year-old and a 10-year-old. A lot, right? In the small business world, 10 years has just as much growth and learning. Wrabyn Boutique is celebrating the no-small-feat of 10 years. Enjoy giveaways, gifts, and 20% off the entire store. Monday (11/6) through Saturday (11/11) at 12 Annapolis St, Annapolis, MD.
Big congrats to Wendy Rabin (no that’s not a typo) and her team Whitney Stanford, Paige Smith, Debbie Ryan, Laura Pfundstein, and Lindsay Renz!
