Name our new fireboat, Thanksgiving treats, the circus is coming...
TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. Happy Halloween. After tonight, it will be almost a year before we have to hear a Top 10 worst word in the English language again. . . spooky đ
In todayâs Naptown Scoop:
Name our new Fireboat
Thanksgiving dessert
Circus at the mall
Letâs get to it.
âRyan Sneddon & Rebecca Kraybill
Want to fish with Naptown Scoop this weekend?
We absolutely love Fish For a Cure. Itâs a great cause (local cancer care) and a fun fundraiser, but itâs also the first place I ever wore a Naptown Scoop Helly Hansen jacket. Dumb reason to have a soft spot but I do. . .
Registration is closed for the fishing tournament but we have a boat with room for 4 anglers thanks to our friends at the Chesapeake Boating Club. If you donate $300 to our team Donât Give Up the Scoop, you can fish with us this Saturday.
Youâll also get a cooler full of your favorite boat beer, a custom sweatshirt from our friends at Local Coast, and all of the boat snacks.
Donât Give Up the Scoop is in second to last place so click here to donate and join us.
P.S. We only have 4 spots on the boat so only the first four $300 donors can join but if you just want to support, we appreciate every donation.

THE DIGEST
Name our new Fireboat
Anne Arundel County is getting two new Fireboats in 2024 and they want our help to name one. The only two requirements are your name must be appropriate (no fruity language) and you must live in Anne Arundel County or be involved in an AACPS classroom. One submission per person.
If you need some inspiration, other public naming contests have yielded names like Boaty McBoatface (a $230 million research ship) and Snowbi-Wan Kenobi (a Nebraska snowplow). Click here to name our new Fireboat.

CIVIL NEWS
City Dock Park preview
City Dock floods a lot. (Shoutout to the Scoop reader whose Halloween costume was âflooded City Dockâ this weekend). Since 2019, 100 residents and stakeholders have been dreaming about how to reimagine City Dock to protect Annapolis from rising sea levels and flooding. Now, that group is ready to introduce a plan for the new City Dock Park.
This Wednesday (11/1) at 5:30 PM, you can hear directly from Mayor Buckley and others about the project. RSVP here since seating is limited. Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, 80 Compromise Street Annapolis, MD 21401.
Board of Education meeting
On the agenda for Wednesdayâs Board of Education meeting:
Update on Blueprint for Marylandâs Future
New AP and theater courses
New Village Academy public charter school
The meeting is at noon Wednesday (11/1) in the Board Room at the Parham Building. The public is welcome to attend. Click here to watch online or submit testimony. 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Anne Arundelâs all in on electric
In 2020, Anne Arundel County pledged to convert all 1,600 of its vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) over the next 17 years. By 2032, all non-emergency light and medium-duty vehicles purchased must be all-electric models, and by 2037, all light and medium-duty emergency vehicles purchased must be all-electric models.
Opportunity: The 2024 budget includes $7.5 million for new EV infrastructure. Yesterday, the county released a request for proposals for a company to install EV charging stations at its facilities. This is a quick bid process (winner selected second week of January) so if you have experience in this field, hop to it. Bids are due December 11.
